Face Makeup is a Vital Part of Your Morning Routine

Before you enhance your eyes or lips, it is important to make sure that the surrounding facial skin is prepared and looking it's best. The main facial makeup products are concealer, foundation, blush and powder.

First, make sure your face is cleansed toned and moisturized, and then you can start applying face make up. Look at your face and note blemishes, such as pimples, or dark circles under the eyes that detract from your features. These can be disguised by using a concealer. Concealer is a product similar to a foundation only much thicker in consistency used sparingly under foundation it can cover blemishes effectively. When selecting a concealer it is advisable to choose a shade a tone lighter than natural skin tone. This may look odd when initially applied however it will blend more easily with the foundation applied on top. Concealer is available in crayon sticks, sponge applicator wands and click point brushes.

Once the concealer has been applied then foundation is applied over the top. Foundation is a skin colored lotion that lightly covers the face and tints. As well as colouring the skin it is useful because it evens out skin tone to give an overall polished complexion. There are many different foundations available. The first thing to select is a foundation that complements the skin type such as dry or oily. Once the type of foundation has been chosen then the correct shade in that range needs to be selected. When choosing a foundation tone it is best advised to find one that nearest matches the skin on the jaw line. Many people make the mistake of choosing a foundation that matches the skin on the back of their hand. This is a mistake because the coloring in the hands is often a couple of shades different to the skin on the face. Foundation should be applied using a damp make up sponge. This is better than using fingers because it gives a clean even finish. The fingertips naturally contain oil and can effect the finish of the foundation.

Following on from foundation a lot of people choose to wear blush on the cheekbones. There are crème and powder versions of this product available, both are effective and it is a matter of personal preference for the wearer. Different skin tones suit different shades of blush. Blush is usually sold in pinks, peaches and mauve shades. It is best to seek the advise of a beauty professional if unsure of what blush shade will best suit what skin type.

Powder is often seen as an old fashioned cosmetic. However it is still a necessary part of any modern beauty kit. Once all the above products have been applied it can appear that the face is finished. A light dusting of loose translucent powder will keep face makeup looking great all day. Without it, the natural oils in the T zone can take their toll and cause the make up to slide or the face look oily. Powder absorbs 'sets' the make up in place and keeps it looking great.
