Men in Palazzos?

"MGM" <mazengniefsm...@cox.net>
I just got back from LAX where I saw a male wearing very wide, sweeping
palazzo pants. He was also wearing heels, but just a plain white shirt
and it didn't seem like he was trying to look like a woman.(No make–up
or wig etc).I thought,it was an interesting look, albeit somewhat
unusual.Anyone seen anything like it? Is this a new trend or something
to forget about quick?

IMHO, Mr. Userb3 would say there's no such thing as unnecessary
material, unless it's polyester.

It isn't, however, necessary to wear ALL the material you own at once.

There's an article about Georgio Armani in today's WJS. Tips by Armani
on what a businessman should wear:
1. Polyester is a fantastic fabric. It has characteristics of
elasticity, fit and non–crease that are fantastic.
2. Linen is a disaster. You wear linen, you sit down, you get up and
it looks like you've been run over by a truck.
3. It is a myth that men aren't creditable unless they are wearing
pinstripes, an oxford shirt, a regimental tie and English shoes.
4. Men look good in shirts, ties and jackets that show a few curves,
but also give comfort . The look must not be sloppy, but neither stiff.
5. I can't accept men wearing sports jackets in a board meeting.
Sports jackets are for weekends.

Bah humbug. The man is clearly gone round the bend, or is being blackmailed
by al Quaeda.
The fantastic fabric is cotton. Perfectly acceptable occasional substitutes
are wool, linen, and silk.

Could have been a crossdresser, transgendered or genderqueer person.
There are some who can't stand the feel or look of makeup. Could have
also been some kind of "Neil Cargile" or "Dale Milller the skirtman"
type.

Makeup, it takes believing in. Like a magic carpet, it's belief that
makes it fly. Otherwise, it's just a rug.
If you believe in it, makeup has a magic all it's own.
Of course, makeup is only dime–store magic. But it works well enough,

Some just like to bend the line a bit without actually crossing it. Also there
are transgendered people that try to just look androgynous when traveling due
to personal concerns.
I am not one to wear makeup often, but then I am just sorta lazy on that part
half the time. Plus I still have a lot to learn about it anyway, lol.

I don't think they ever were "In Style". Some may of worn them but they
never caught on as far as I can remember and that was a good thing.

They definitely caught on in CA. Of course, a lot were sold at street
corners as opposed to department stores. My kids were in elementary
school at the time and I remember seeing men in all sorts of weird
patterns of these balloon like pants.

I think,we're talking about two different items here.I'm not refering
to the MC Hammer parachute pants.Palazzo pants are long, flowing with
wide leg openings.A long version of the currently trendy "gauchos".Just
click on "imgaes" on top of the google screen and type palazzo
pants. The ones I saw were pleated and semi–sheer black.

I definitely know what palazzo pants are for women and think the men's
style will be as popular as skirts for me.
Userb3 <use...@gmail.com>
I don't even like palazzo pants on women. To my mind, there are two
perfectly good options for someone who wants to fashionably cover their
legs: pants or a skirt. Palazzos combine the worst of both.

I agree, so long as what Audrey means is that she thinks palazzo pants and
skirts look equally appealing (that is, NOT) on men. And I'll add my vote
against ANYTHING "semi–sheer" on a man.

Joe, the classic dresser in palazzos...Smokey, what do you think he'd
say? My error was I intended to say palazzos for men would be as
popular as skirts for men. In major US cities you see a lot of
everything, but most men dress very conservatively in the rest of the
US.

I think Joe might ignore the whole discussion as not worthy of consideration
in even a casual discussion of men's clothing...unless Brooks Bros has
started carrying palazzos...

I think most here know what a palazzo is...and they're actually more
than just a long gaucho, but that's another issue.
As far as men in palazzos...to each his own, I suppose. I think it you
want to stand out and look very different, sure. I'm not a fan of the
look, at least not on guys. But my opinion doesn't matter.
I think if you live in a less gender–liberal area, like SF or NYC,
you'll be fine. I'd rethink palazzos if you work in a conservative
industry. Which is most, frankly.

Yes, yes, yes I no longer like those long peasant type skirts that
practically dragged to the ground. I think they are very unflattering
though I've still kept one Dana Buchman one for Hawaiian theme parties
and to justify the expense of all that extra fabric.
