There is a good article about Johns Hopkins entering the commercial
skincare business in today's WSJ. If anyone tries these products,
please post your feedback. The line is exclusive to Sephora.

Hi Audrey,
I bought the day eye cream and returned it two days later. At the time
I thought it made my eyes dry and itchy, but I'm not convinced it
wasn't allergies. Usually my skin tolerates most anything, so I may
give it another try after this season. I have the product booklet that
I will study before I do.
Also, the Sephora SAs were really pushy with this line. And I don't
like that...

every time georgette klinger comes out with a new line, i race to read
about it because she was in charge at la prairie when my most exalted
skin creams were alive: skin sensitivity lotion and a rescue gel which i
can't recall the name of. i hearted them both deeply and have never
found their equal.
this line doesn't look to have them, but hope springs eternal.

Lurker chiming in here––
I bought the Private Nurse as night cream for my dry, sensitive,
rosacea–prone skin. It is light (i.e., not greasy) and yet very hydrating.
I've been using it about a week now. Every morning I've awoken with plump,
hydrated skin and no itchies or blemishes. But it seems to be very pricey
for a small amount––$75. I hope it lasts longer than 30 days at that price.
The product line's key ingredients are emu oil and dimethicone. I have
heard that the emu oil gives some of the products an "off" scent. I have
used an emu oil pedicure creme before, and yes, it has an unusual smell.
But it is very hydrating and healing to skin.
For those who care about these things (I do too), apparently they do not
kill the emu to get the oil. They retrieve it from glands near their
feathers.

Thanks to you and stellaglo for your posts. I am anxious to learn more
about this line.

I am totally amused by this as I went to Johns Hopkins as an undergrad and
it was one of the least fashionable places I have ever been. (I used to get
teased for wearing "designer clothes" every day, and my clothes were from
Macy's.)
I know they're trading on medical expertise, not fashion, but it is too
funny!

My father was, as we say, a Baltimoron! So it's perfectly understandable
that when I read the original subject line, my first thought was not of
Georgette Klinger, but of Max Klinger from M*A*S*H!

Actually that's what they claim. I do not know myself.

Update: I have been doing research (I googled "harvest emu oil") and the
Sephora SA I spoke with may have been telling me a story when she said that
they do not kill the bird. Just so you know....

it's emu fat, from the meat. actually, the emu oil doesn't bother me, i
finally got over my nausea about that a few years back, but the
dimethicone scares me! 75.00 was about what the other product cost, so
i'd happily pay that.
