Old Navy Stores

"JennP" <jenniferpinck...@comcast.net>
Is it just mine or does every ON store look like a tornado blew through it.
I mean literally! Over the past two weeks I've tried to shop at my local ON
*at opening time* and the store is just disgusting. Piles of mixed–up,
unfolded clothes, clothes jammed on the racks so tight they are dripping
off, enormous dust bunnies and piles of merchandise on the floor. You can't
find anything you are looking for and it's very frustrating. This isn't an
outlet store and I shouldn't have to sift through the rubble to find a white
perfect fit v–neck t–shirt!
I think I've vented about this before, but I'm just astounded that any
manager would want their store looking like this.I actually got a reciept
with a request for me to fill out a survey so I did and it was scathing. I
used up every one of my 500 words in the "comments" section. I really don't
think anyone cares though. It's unfortunate, because they have some good
basics like the tees and children's clothing, but I just can't shop there
anymore. I'll have to travel to get there and it just isn't worth it, imo.

I think most every ON store I have been into has been messy. I get
overwhelmed and rarely buy anything.
One of my real pet peeves is overloaded racks. You can't find
anything, and when you try, invariably a bunch of pieces of clothing
fall to the floor. I hardly feel like picking them up! I once worked
at a Gap when I was in grad school. The manager used to tell us to get
every last bit of clothing out onto the floor, because we couldn't sell
it from the back room. While this is true, what is the point of having
8 articles of the same piece of clothing, all in the same size, on the
rack at once?!

The last time I looked at tops they were all over the table. I probably
looked at more than 20 of the same color, multiples of the same two
sizes and no other sizes available. It just takes too much time to do
that.

"Mine" is always a sty. I rarely even bother going in. OTOH, oldnavy.com
is always very tidy <g>. Nothing is shopworn. And you can return items to
a b&m store.

The two Ons in my town are generally pretty neat EXCEPT
near the start of school or at Christmas. My favorite thing is
to go during spring break, which all happen at the same time
in the worst state. No kids anywhere.
One of the advantages of being of a "certain age" is that
people trust you. They always let me take as many garments
as I want in the dressing room and never count them, lol.

no, i don't think it's just yours. i think all ON stores are

wow, news to me.
i pretty much stopped shopping there – and gave most of my ON
shirts to my housemate. someone here said something to the
effect of "cheap print clothing," and after a while, i realized
it, too. their clothing's just not that appealing.

2nd this on all counts. I like ON toddler clothes but they are always
impossible to sift through in the store, and they cost too much (IMHO) full
price. But I am a complete devotee of the ON web site and its frequent
sales on toddler clothes. :) It's worth $5 shipping to order as many
little socks in as many colors as I need without having to try to find each
pair individually on one of those annoying end cap displays (with people
always bumping into you because you have to stand in the aisle to get to
the socks).
That reminds me...it's time to start stocking up on spring/summer clothes!

Yiiiii, I hear you on the sorting through the little socks front,
Michele. I was stupid, I did this at the Tyson's ON, the week after it
– and the new wing – opened. Stupider still (sadly yes, it gets
stupider) I did this while my DD and DH waited for me to finish
rounding up said socks so I could get the 8 (?) pairs of socks for $10.
But, the last ON we were in was pretty well organized and we scored
some cute things for the little diva, and a pair of pants for DH, all
on sale. This store is really YMMV in my opinion. Sometimes it's well
organized and easy to shop in and sometimes everything's a mess, the
lines are too long, the music too loud, and it's generally hellatious.

I don't remember noticing this problem at the one near me. I'll look for it
next time. What I remember about ON is getting frustrated at the fitting
room lines. I have not been to ON in about a year.

The big two story Old Navy store in Downtown Seattle is always impeccably
clean whenever I go there and it's really easy to find stuff, too. However,
I have noticed that at the smaller Old Navy stores in strip malls, like the
one in up North of me near Everett, WA (it's wedged in between a Barnes and
Noble and a Bed, Bath and Beyond store...only one story....really small...)
everything is a mess and there are purses scattered all over and t–shirts
falling over, etc. It looks more like a Ross, a Loehmann's or a Marshall's
inside that one.

Yes!! My local ON looks as if my toddler went through it. The only one
that I have been in, that looked great was in Destin Florida.

I agree, but I am a tactile person. I need to see it, feel it and absolutely
try it on. Also, I can't be bothered with a trip to the store I don't like
to shop in just to make a return.

Filthy? Good Lord, I hope not! My store isn't just messy, it's gross! The
clothing is all mixed up, dragging on the floors, dripping off the hangers.
I can't possibly think that they are going for that look.

I definitly don't like 95% of what they carry for me anyway, so I guess it
doesn't really matter.
