Ah, but I will recommend a perfume shop, nonetheless. On a street
right off of the piazza outside the Palazzo Vecchio in Firenze, there
is a little perfume shop that makes perfect replicas of the scents
Catherine de Medici wore. It's pricey, but the citrus scents are
divine. I have a Limon di Sicilia and an Agrumi di Sicilia. They are
both perfume oils, very high scent concentration, and they smell like
the groves in Naples.
*SIGH* I wish that you could go to Italy with your mother. I fell in
love with the place when I was there three years ago. Firenze was my
favorite, with Sorrento a close second. Venice was very nice, too,
and
of course, you can't go wrong with Rome.
One more thing about Firenze: there is tons of shopping on the Ponte
Vecchio, which is the bridge over the River Arno. Good gelati, too,
if
your mom goes for that kind of thing.
Yes, that perfume shop is a special find. Is this the one you are
referring to ? http://tinyurl.com/hkycq
I buy leather goods at Manelli leather, which is on the Ponte Vecchio,
close to the Pitti Palace side. I love their wallets and have an
assortment of leather bracelets I've purchased from them. For jewelry
there is a store called Mossa, which has beautiful designs, and a very
good looking son :) http://www.mossafirenze.it/
You don't have to be into bath products to truly appreciate the beauty
of the Santa Maria Novella pharmacy that has been in business since the
1200s. It is just around the corner from the beautiful church of the
same name. It's just not the same when you buy the products in the
States.
Vivoli at Via Isola delle Stinche 7 has delicious gelato in many exotic
flavors. If there are men in your life who wear ties, there are
amazingly low priced silk ties in beautiful colors.
I can't buy shoes in Italy but I always find handbags I love. The best
buys are at Desmo. Finally tell her not to forget the beautiful paper
products. If she wanders to the side streets she may find fabulous buys
at stationers that are not as high priced as the ones in tourist spots.
If she wants a personal tour guide, I volunteer.
