Holy Grail of Red Wine Stain Removal!l

"Mme. India" <mmein...@comcast.net>
Sunday afternoon I wore my new Marc Jacobs heels (white and cream linen), my
current most prized possessions, to a party. I had also misplaced my
glasses so I couldn't see very well. At some point in the afternoon,
someone spilled an entire glass of red wine at my feet. A cursory, myopic
glance at my shoes made them seem okay.
After a very long day, I got home, took my shoes off and saw that they were
covered in small (size of a seed bead) wine stains. Panic occurred to the
point where I was about to go order another pair, then I thought, at least I
should try to get the stains out first. There was nothing handy to treat
them with, so I googled "how to remove red wine stains," and found this site
with hundreds of people raving about "Pattie H.'s remedy."
It was very simple: mix Dawn dish detergent (the regular blue kind) with
hydrogen peroxide (didn't give exact amounts but said to use more of the
peroxide than the Dawn), and apply it to the stain with Q–tips immediately.
(By immediately I mean immediately after mixing the concoction, not
immediately after the stain occurs.) It claimed to work even on wine stains
that had already been washed.
I didn't have these items handy so the next day I went out and bought them.
Approximately 36 hours after the stains occurred, I used Pattie H's remedy.
It was meant to be a pre–wash treatment, but since I couldn't throw my shoes
in the washer, I just applied it and then wiped my shoes off with a wet
washcloth. The stains were still visible.
The next day I checked them again and the stains are completely gone! There
are not even slight ghosts of them, I can't see where they were at all.
Thank you Pattie H., whoever you are, and I am passing your tip on in the
hopes that it will help someone else save a prized fashion possession.

Cool. I wonder if this works on other types of stains too.
