rave for Sak's c/s!

On my Shopping Tour of 2006, I spotted this Theory bag and fell in love:

It's the softest leather and just a great bag for travel. (and probably
everyday too). I decided to wait until I got home to order because I
shop through a shopping portal (mypoints) which earns points for gift
cards. I have a slew of Macy's cards from this site, it works, honest!
And I wanted to save the tax and PLUS, I found a 10% code.
So in my haste, I ordered the wrong bag:

Granted, it's a great bag too, but it's very similiar to things I
already own.
I decided to return it, Sak's is very fair...they provide a prepaid
Priority Insured label and they only take $5 off your refund. Since I
paid with a gift card, they will be sending a bank check, which is fine
with me.
I TRIED to use the code again, but to no avail. I thought, what the
heck, I'll call c/s and see what they say. The invoice also says that
if an exchange is wanted, they will waive the shipping (hello: $16 s/h
fee). I get this very nice rep on the phone (I always write down their
name and use it in conversation) and we went through the whole thing...I
told her in my hurry, I actually did order the wrong bag and asked
<sweetly> could she honor the 10% off on the right one? SHE DID! Holy
moly, I couldn't believe it~! Plus, she waived the shipping!
They have a customer for life now. WOW!

believe me, I would not normally spend this kind of $$$ on a bag (or
most anything else), but my DH so thoughtfully cashed in some points on
his American Express account and gave me a gift card. (still have some
left, woo hoo!)

Jean, I love it too. The one you wanted is so much prettier than the
one that arrived first.

Stevie,
I was so surprised at how *nice* the SA's and MA's were in Saks. (this
was in both Orlando and West Palm Beach)...I was somewhat intimidated at
first, but not anymore. Cute antidote, here though....I used my first
CG to buy a BB lipgloss (one of the new glitter/glimmer <whatever> ones.
The MA brought me over to pay for it...the SA said, "Oh, an AE gift
card...how lucky for you to have one, it must be one of those $100
ones". All I did was grin at her when she realized it was for $500.
HA! Did her demeanor change in a heartbeat....

whoa gf!!! that's terrific

Last week I made a purchase at Saks and the SA was sweet but a little dense?
Usually they close at 6 PM, and I arrived at 5:45 PM. The first thing out of
my mouth was "You are closing soon, I only have 15 minutes, right?" and she
said yes. I was rushing to pick out my item, it was clear I was feeling time
pressure. In fact I made a few comments to her about wishing I had more time
while she was helping me. At any rate I made my selection and we went to the
register and I said something like "Phew, just made it, huh?" And another
sales lady behind the counter said "Today is Thursday, we close at 8 PM
tonight." LOL! I said "Omigosh, and I was rushing". The SA said she was
sorry but she didn't know there were different hours on Thursday. It seemed
a little bizarre to me since if they were closing at 6 you'd think she'd
know cuz she was getting off work? Anyway, maybe there was some other
reason. It was kind of a bummer, but then I figured, hey, I got the errand
done earlier than I would have otherwise, so no harm done.

I too have had amazing customer service from Saks and Saks.com I placed an
order online and it was delayed a day or two. Their customer service email
dept. sent me a message saying for my inconvenience they would refund the
shipping for me. Granted after I got my bill in the mail they had not taken
it off but when I called about it they girl on the phone was so nice and
took it right off for me. I have had the same good experience when having
to return things I bought online. No problems at all. Saks and Nordstrom's
have the best customer service around these days.
