4" heals

"nonickname" <vi...@getalifestyle.org>
can you folks give me some feedback on 4" heals? I saw a few pair of
shoes at nordstrom.com that I just love but haven't worn a heal that
high before. I'm good on 2.5–3" and do well but walking a bit on 4" i'd
just like some opinions.
I'm 5'8" if that matters.

You really need to try them on and see for yourself. My five foot ten
daughter can wear 4 inch heels and walk well in them.

I think it has more to do with your foot and arch than your height.
Marina Rust wrote an article for Vogue a few years back on this topic.
She interviewed SA's at Manolo who informed her that her arch was not
conducive to her ever wearing 100 mm heels comfortably. If I recall
she even took an exercise class to improve her ability to comfortably
wear very high heels, but to no avail.
You need to walk around in the shoes to get your comfort level before
buying them. There is almost nothing worse than trotting around in
super cute shoes that kill your feet.

Interesting. Does that mean she had a low arch? I have a very low arch, and
anything higher than 3" kicks my butt. I am pretty comfy in 2 1/2.

You guys are great. I know it's a bit of common sense. I just wanted
your opinions too.

I don't recall exactly what is was about the foot that increased one's
ability to wear the sky scrapers. I do recall that it had to do not
only with the arch, but also the strength of the ligaments in the foot.
Sarah Jessica Parker was cited by the Manolo SA as someone who could
wear the 100 mm's all day with no problem. My arch isn't all that
high, but I can wear 100 mm's all day in comfort, which could be due to
a strong foot from ballet training.
