Are boots only for tall guys?

I'm perhaps of average height for where I live. Eventhough, I often
found that wearing boots, even ankle height boots, made me look shorter
and didn't fit my look. I've not worn them for years and had no plans
to wear any. I'm inclinted to think that boots are good for tall guys,
but perhaps not short ones or those of average height who worry about
not looking tall enough.
What do you guys think?

if you are tucking your trousers into your boots... well, i think
that's very wrong.
very trenchcoat militia/dungeons & dragons aficianado...
if your pantleg falls gracefully over the top of your boots, they
should give you height and macho.
