This may sound silly, but are you sure it's a purse and not a pet–carrier?
Its holes appear to go all the way through, so small items like pens would
fall out. (How big are the dogs that make you DtD?)

The dogs are a 6 pound toy poodle, a 6.5 pound Chihuahua mixed with what
appears to be space alien, and a 14 pound Chinese Crested PowderPuff.
There used 2 be a 9 pound toy poodle, but he died just over a year ago
at around 17 years of age.
