shopping problems

anort...@buffalo.edu
Fashion is a big thing these days. However, it is hard for people that
aren't the average hieght to keep up with the fashion. This is because
clothes are either to short for really tall people or to long for short
people. I have a problem of clothes always being to long because i am
so short. I know alot of people that are a little taller then me and
the petite clothes or short or still to long on them. I think that
fashion designers need to start making petite clothes a little shorter
because so many people can not find jeans that fit. Also, ever season
it seems like sizes of jeans changes. First, the jeans fit you in one
season and then the next time that store comes out with a new line it
seems like the size 0 is now like a size 3. Stores should not change
there sizes every season.
Also, I think that stores should carry more shoe sizes. People with
small feet can never find shoes that fit them. Oddly enough, the stores
order the least amount of shoes in small sizes for shoes that have like
a 5inch heel. To me this does not make sense. One would think that
the taller the heel the more smaller sizes one would order because more
short people by shoes with bigger heels.
Overall, I think shopping can be very stressful at times for people
that are not the average height. This is because they can never find
jeans that fit because they are always to big or to small and they can
never find shoes in there size either. Overall, I think that fashion
designers need to start making petite clothes shorter and smaller in
the waist and taller clothes longer. Also, stores need to start
ordering more small sizes in shoes that have a really big heel because
short people are the ones that are buying those the most. I just think
shopping could be so much easier for so many more people if designers
and store owners realized that there are a lot of short and tall people
out there and they should adjust to that.

For shoes, try websites like zappos.com, shoes.com, etc. You can search by
size, and they do carry a lot of 5s. (People who wear a size 5 shoe can't
wear a 5"heel. It's a geometry/falling over thing. You'd be walking on
your toes, like Barbie.)
When styles are very short (like skirts were for the past few years), buy
them!
Find someone to tailor your clothes. (You can ask for recommendations from
a local sewing store or dry cleaner.)
The jeans thing is a problem for everyone.

I hear ya. I am always frustrated that more shoe stores don't carry narrow
widths. I'm 9 1/2 narrow, so finding shoes can be a nightmare. I end up
wearing open toe a lot because I can get away with a 9 medium and my toe
hangs over a little. Then at least I can wear something trendy.

Find a very good tailor/seamstress to alter your clothes or if you are
a fairly decent sewer, do it yourself. Lots of people have clothes
issues whether it be too long, shoulders seams in the wrong place, the
rise in pants is too long, etc. Tall people have problems with things
not being long enough, at least you can alter your clothes. Large
busted women have trouble finding things to fit in the bust without the
blouse looking like a maternity top. Some women have an enormous
rear–end and have trouble finding slacks/jeans to fit them in the
waist. We ALL have trouble with clothes fitting.
I don't think stores are going to have a wide selection of items for a
narrow group of people. They are going for profit and the average
buyer. You are in the same boat as many of us, either sew it yourself
or find someone who can tailor your clothes to fit your frame.

This "one" isn't thinking that! Yeah, I'm short (read: 5'), but I have no
desire to compensate with 5" heels. Frankly, I'm rather annoyed that I
can't find wedge shoes with reasonable 1.5–2" heels.
