I have an acting gig (just to remind myself of what I put others
through...) I have been cast for a fundraising Titanic dinner on
April 14. It's a seven course firstclass dinner at a fabulous place,
complete with living historian dining companions. This is my
character: http://www.encyclopediatitanica.org/biography/150/
I am trying to put together a good costume without spending a ton of
money. We don't really have a costume designer, just access to two
fairly good costume shops (the local theatre and the college theatre
department). I want to be as accurate as possible, but don't have the
time to completely build an elaborate costume.
So...what looks would you associate with 1912 at a formal dinner? This
was a transition period, so there were many different styles available.
My own leanings are toward Poiret and Orientalism, but am open, with
the only restriction being that my arms and back must be covered
because I sport some decidedly nonperiod tattoos. I've been scouring
costume books and the internet, and want to avoid looking like the
movie.
Thanks and have fun!
