Black Hair Care/Styling Info Question

Can someone please direct me good sources for black hair care, such as
how–to books videos for professional braiding/styling. We're also
looking for good resources for good prices on commerical–grade
equipment (there's one tool in particular but dont know what it's
called, like what the ladies use to do braids in shops). My wife and
her cousin want to learn to do it themselves (they already can braid
but want to get to that next level and hook it up tight like when you
pay $500 in a shop :).
