Aside from this being spam, why would anyone want to pay so much for a
pair of rubber shoes? I'm not into water sports that much but a pair
of tevas usually work just fine as do cheap Lands End imitations.

Don't knock 'em 'till you've tried them.
I don't use them for watersports (which I'm not into either). However,
they are *wonderful* if you work on your feet, and I do (so long as they
fit one's workplace dresscode).
Both my jobs are on your feet all day every day. Crocs are not
especially attractive (usually described as 'cute in a ugly way') but
they are *amazingly comfortable*. Have to be tried to be believed – and
no, most of the imitations, such as the ones from WM, are not nearly as
good.
Several nursing friends tell me they are fabulous for being on your feet
for 12 hours. They come in cute colors that coordinate with today's
professional nursing wear, scrubs in colors and prints. Reasonably
priced and easier to keep looking good than traditional nursing shoes.
The better brands also have the added benefit of being autoclaveable, at
least in the styles aimed at the healthcare community. Several
health–care outfitters on the Internet have a wide selection at very
reasonable prices.
Also useful for gardening, washing the car, walking the dog, etc.
If one is on one's feet all day, they are worth it. Foot comfort can be
worth quite a lot to those who work standing and walking all day.
YMMV, of course.

I haven't tried the cheap Lands End version, but the croc shoes are
amazingly comfortable. The sole is a hard plastic bottom but the insole is
a very cushy rubber that yields with every step –– if only they weren't so
casual!

this is so funny! i just got back from 11 days in baja –– i kept seeing
women wearing these hideous shoes! i don't remember ever seeing them
before, but they must be very comfortable if so many travelers are wearing
them.

they only look hideous. they mold to your foot providing a great bit
of orthotic. They are anti–microbial and are great for wet and unstable
surfaces.. excellent for boating and gardening because they have
traction in the wet

they only cost 29.00 US, so they really aren't that expensive. and they are
fabulously comfortable. i resisted for a long time, but i love the pair i
have and will probably buy another come summertime. they even stay soft
enough to wear in the wintertime in vermont...i would have expected them to
harden up and become lethal, like uggs soles, but they don't. i don't wear
them, but i see a lot of people who do, all winter.

The original poster posted a price close to $50. $29 US is a fair price
for them and it seems like a worthwhile investment.

yes, i've never seen them for more than 29.00. i wore them to work last
summer, everyone gave me a hard time, but just the other day those very
same someones were asking me for all the details.
try them on, audrey, if you get the chance and think that you would
have use for them....they really feel great.

I suppose it's like Tevas; at first they look really dreadful but we get
used to seeing them. I remember the first time I saw someone wearing clogs.
I thought, "Wow. Wooden shoes." Then they were *every*where.

Would they work well as garden clog? The clogs I bought just don't fit
well so I end up putting on my son's Wellies or ruining my tennis shoes.
My other need for shoes like these is when we go to the central coast;
it is hard to walk on the rocks in flip flops but so much fun to look at
the tide pools. We usually get things a season later than everyone on
the East Coast so I will give them a try.

Ideal as a garden clog, on boats, for around the pool, for just running
around. I covered them in mid 2005 for an LA magazine because they were so
different. you can find them at lots of places..

If you wear them for gardening, you will either have to get the ones
with backs, or wear the heel strap on the heel. Otherwise you will get
dirt in them. Also, I don't find them to have good traction on wet
surfaces at all. Other than that, I think they are great. My husband
wears them around the restaurants, and sometimes on the construction
site, though I usually scold him for that and urge him to wear work
boots.

I figured that out after I responded to Stevie's post. I would just
wear them at the beach. I would not wear them any place because in our
hot summers I prefer sandals or flip flops. I know my feet and they
don't like to be caged in when it is hot.

the cayman is a newer design to give better traction on wet surfaces, has a
more breathable moldable bottom and works well at the beach and in the
garden.. I know people who have both styles.. they wear the Cayman

Then, this is my problem! I have the Beach Sandal and I am always
slipping and sliding. I actually broke the strap off of one, and I am
planning to replace them. I think I will do so with the Cayman.

you broke the strap? Email them and ask them for repair and or credit
toward the Cayman. I might still have the 411 on the cayman

The Beach was Crocs original and wildly successful model. However,
because it comes in only six sizes, it didn't fit the "between" sizes
perfectly. So Crocs introduced the new Cayman model to address the
"tweener" issue. The Cayman comes in individual sizes from children's
8/9 through adult 13. It also has a slightly narrower foot bed and
softer circulation nubs. It is the perfect comfort shoe for all sizes,
"tweener" or not! The main difference in the two shoes is that the
Cayman comes in whole number sizes while the Beach model is sized XS
through XXL.
the cayman is a sleek and slender version of the Beach and comes in
full sizes.

Well. I actually broke the hinge, and it was my own fault. I actually
was sitting cross–legged, and rolled over my ankle, and twisted the
side of the shoe, and the little black plastic hinge is what broke.
There is no way it was meant to withstand the kind of funny twisting I
did to it. They may very well replace it if I asked, but I don't feel
right to ask in this case.
