Restylane

"Mary" <absolutelym...@calm.com>
Okay, I had this procedure done a couple of years ago on my lower face (down
from the corners of the mouth) with not much of a result.
Anything new out there in regard to fillers for this facial area ( a common
sagging area as we get older)? I did see something on the Ophra show once
about "threading or something to pull it up a little".
I am also looking into some laser work on my nose for Roscea.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Mary

regarding rosacea.. it's a specific color of laser and you will want
to
1) find out if your insurance would cover the treatment..
2) you want to find the newest best laser out there with a doc with
lots of experience.. (out here Celebre is a great place to try)..
3) restylane is still a great thing to use.. it's an off label usage.
but it molds easier..
I will check my notes regarding some interviews I did with some plastic
surgeons and laser docs

Thank you so much Stevie, I appreciate that. I did check out that web page
for Celebre and there is some good info on lasers etc.......however I am in
the midwest so hopefully I can find the lastest and greatest here also. I
just want to be knowledgeable before I talk to a Doc.
Thanks again.
Mary

I've read about a filler called "Radiance"
that is supposed to be longer lasting than Restalyne and collagen. I have
not tried it though.
I had my first Restalyne treatment about 5 months ago. I was very happy with
the results and it's still there/working. I will probably do restalyne again
whenever this last treatment disappears. Did it just do nothing for you?

Hi Miss Livvy
Hmmmm I am wondering if I should have went to a Plastic Surgeon instead of a
Derm. No......nothing......a complete waste of money. I don't think I
really did my homework on finding an expert on this.....albeit the nothing
outcome. I guess I just need to research this more and thats why I posted
here.....appreciate your input and am so glad it worked for you. What area
of the face did you have this filler?
Thanks
Mary

HI
you definitely want to hit a plastic surgeon for the restylane.. have
heard of Radiance.. preliminary info I had showed I didn't want to
cover something that hasn't been out there that long and hasn't been as
"user friendly" to those who have it.
I would think that talking to various docs would be helpful.. and I
could give you some notes on different lasers
gemini laser is one.. it has 2 different colors.. there are others.. I
have to check my notes. email me and I can send you more 411
there are lots of experts but I would suggest finding the different
laser names, go to the laser websites and talk to them.

There was recently an article somewhere (NY Magazine? NYTimes? not
sure) about various lifting procedures currently available. The
section about threading, complete with horrifying photos, was enough to
make me certain I would NEVER try this. The threads can move, they can
make bumps along the chin line, they can pull through the skin. It's
just not safe, as far as I'm concerned. If it ever comes down to it,
I'll save my $$ and have a real face lift by an experienced––and well
researched–– plastic surgeon.

I think this was Allure. I read the same article with the horrifying photos
about the threading.

glad it worked for you. What area
of the face did you have this filler?
I had it put in the "nasolabial folds". It came out looking very natural,
and it did what I was hoping it would do. I had it done by a dermatologist.
He is also a professor at USC and lectures and publishes a lot of papers.
Regarding Rosacea, I read that IPL is supposed to work on that, too but
laser might make more sense if you just want to treat a concentrated area.

Thanks Stevie and all for your input......definitely going to stay away from
the threading and Radiance for now.
I am leaving for a cruise later in the week........so will continue my
search for Doc's and laser's etc. when I get back and I know where to post
my questions now!
Thanks
Mary

Don't forget to take sunscreen! (If we'd done that when we were younger, we
wouldn't need the miracle treatments now.)
