A good text story is here

and a picture of the device in use is on Engadget

Sit in front of a terminal and a picture of your face appears on the
screen. Using RFID, you swipe the product (unopened) over the reader
and you can then apply a virtual sample to your face to see how you
like the color. Being a fan of makeup and technology, I can't wait
to try one of these out!
On a more practical side, this would solve the problem of opened
packages and nasty testers.
I'm sure it's not cheap, so I don't expect drugstores to have these
installed any day soon, but I think it's an interesting way to keep
the customer interested and to lessen product waste.
Hope it comes to the USA soon.
