Review: Neutrogena Mineral Sheers for Eyes

alicix...@hotmail.com
I bought the mineral sheer duo I own at Wal Mart, the only place I've
seen these so far. Wal Mart also had the new Neutrogena mineral powder
foundation (already in a travel brush), but they were out of the
lightest shade, so I haven't tried that yet.
The duo I got is "Sand"–– a pale gold and a gold toned taupe. All of
the duos look to be extremely subtle, which is a plus for me. This
shadow provides decent shimmer, and very sheer coverage–– perfect for
someone who likes a wash of color on an everyday basis. I like shimmer
on my eyes, but find some shadows (Stila Kitten is one example for me)
way too shimmery for me to easily wear anymore without them "creeping"
into fine lines and dryness. There's a definite gold/yellow tone to the
one I bought, even by the end of the day, so I would say that there's a
good amount of pigment in the product. I also seemed to be able to
blend both colors without difficulty.
The container "pulls apart" rather than opening like many standard eye
shadows. It does click, though, so I don't think it is likely to break
with normal use. In my opinion, another interesting thing is the
ingredient list. Talc appears first, which is something I've seen
advertised as not being in mineral powder products. The product is a
solid shadow compact–– is this maybe the reason for the talc?
After several days of wear, thumbs up for me. I haven't tried these
with a wet brush yet, but hopefully that will work, too. I seem to be
gravitating towards subtle colors and fine milled powder products this
year. These are really nice and I can imagine wearing them regularly.

Sorry–– I'm not 100% sure one way or the other. I'd have to say that
they looked shimmery in the containers–– mine certainly is, and the
others were similar looking, just different tones (another I considered
buying looked more rose colored, for example). I like the one I have a
lot and will take a closer look next time I'm in that Wal Mart.

I recently purchased 2 of the e/s, and the lightest foundation
(translucent), and I love all three. The foundation goes on REALLY
nicely – it's buttery soft, I don't feel it at all, and it lasts and
looks perfect all day. I feel that it gives a perfect finish – nicely
matte, but not chalky looking at all. I really like this. I also like
both e/s I got – I can't remember the names, unfortunately, but I
*believe* I got classic, and perhaps nude? Or sand? That said, I don't
think the shades that I purchased have ANY shimmer to them at all. They
are extremely neutral (which is why I got them, for a more subdued look
now and then), and very pretty. Again, they go on very soft and smooth,
and last all day long – no creasing at all.
Big thumbs up from me.

I really wanted to try this new line (I assume it's new?) from
Neutrogena, so I went to four stores tonight and nobody had it. :( I
tried Target, Shopko, Rite–Aid and Walgreen's. I know the OP said
that she bought hers at WalMart, which is a store I try to avoid at
all costs for several practical reasons. Has anyone purchased the
Mineral Sheers line someplace other than WalMart? I checked
www.neutrogena.com and can't even find this line listed on their site.

Doh – I second that. I actually bought all PF products, NOT the new
Neutrogena minerals!

I bought eyeshadow & foundation last week and I absolutely hate them
both. They are *super* shimmery to the point of being unwearable IMO.
If you're looking for matte, stay away from the Neutrogena.

Cofarb, you might like the Physicians Formula mineral shadows, if
you're looking for matte. I grabbed one in nude and fell in love. Lasts
well, applies evenly (a problem I've had with mineral shadows.)
