Today has been a very casual day spent mostly with family. My amazing
boyfriend (soon–to–be–fiance) is at the library right now stocking up
on movies for me and my sisters to keep us distracted when we get to
those low points; our beloved father passed away in the hospital
suddenly on Saturday after being sick with what we thought was a bad
flu. In some ways, I am relieved since he had so many health issues
throughout the years & I hated to see him suffer, but he was only 56.
In any event, I hope such a place exists where he can be at peace and
watch over us.
I have missed posting to this thread as it's very therapeutic, so maybe
I should keep up more often as a form of self–therapy so I don't go
crazy. To keep this on–topic, here's what I'm wearing around the
house:
– Mossimo chocolate brown velour zip–up hoodie
– Mossimo chocolate brown velour drawstring lounge pants with back
pockets with a snap closure

CATCHING UP WITH STUFF TODAY: Up...@ 7:00. Went by the USPS and picked
up the mail that accumulated when I was in the hospital. Then, I made
a quick dash by work to pass along that I'd be out of commission a
while longer. Gassed the car... $2.239/gallon... I went a month
between fillups but then the car sat while I was in the hospital. Had
my doctor appointment, no surprise there... since she didn't treat me
in the hospital, I did a release so they could pass notes. Came home,
walked over to the Mexican place for beef fajitas. Got on the phone,
fixed up the loose ends for my medical leave. Then, made a trip to CVS
for a prescription and Target for a number of things. Came home and
sorted through the mail (lots of junk along with "they don't age well"
Wall Street Journal). For the day:

Laura, just take your time to go through the grieving process. With
both my parents I had to get on with life immediately but it is
different for everyone. That is exciting news about your STBF.
Today the spring broke on my garage door so I was housebound till my son
came home from work to hold up the door while I drove the car out of the
garage. I could not open it manually. My errands were in three
different parts of town so I got home in a rush before work.
hand knit ahmward sweater...it is Italian yarn that stripes itself as
you knit in shades of green and blue. I love it so much one of today's
errands was to pick up the same type of yarn in hues of pink and
lavender.

<<< I am so sorry to hear about your father. Please accept my deepest
sympathy. Congratulations though on your soon to be fiance; is he the
one you have been dating for quite some time? >>>
Thank you so much, Audrey, I appreciate it. I met my soon–to–be fiance
while I was still with my ex–boyfriend. It was a back & forth kind of
rocky relationship and it ended for good around last March. My STBF
and I remained friends and we started talking on the phone every night,
spending a lot of time together, and we became inseparable. My dad
loved him and he even gets my mom's approval which is quite difficult!
I told my mom right at the beginning that I was going to marry him,
which is quite unusual for me, since I used to be very hesitant about
marriage. Anyway, he's the greatest man I've ever met and I'm glad my
dad got to meet him before he passed.
Today I decided to actually get dressed into real clothes since it's
been days and I am starting to feel a bit better and more at ease with
the whole situation. A bereavement minister came over this morning to
help us choose readings and songs for the funeral mass and my older
sister came over soon after to help put pictures on boards from the
funeral home. While my sister watched a few "Sopranos" episodes on DVD
with my mom, I went out for some coffee with my boyfriend. I haven't
really left the house, so it felt good to get out for a bit. I'm
wearing:
– White House | Black Market white long–sleeved crocheted floral cocoon
sweater
– Banana Republic powder blue nylon stretch V–neck camisole with
spaghetti straps
– Cambridge black tailored pants with a double–button front closure,
back welt pockets, and a slightly flared leg
– BCBGirls powder blue pointy mules with a 2" stiletto heel
Accessories: baby blue, baby pink, yellow, white, and forest green
"rock" necklace with the rocks of varying sizes, silver band with a
princess cut CZ stone and a double–row of round tiny CZs on either
side, and silver Claddagh ring. While I was out, I wore a Frenchi
camel lightweight wool coat with pink, pale aqua blue, mint green, and
yellow tweed bits.
Today is the best I've felt since I heard the news, but I know many
panic attacks await me and hope I make it through the week in one
piece. I felt guilty even going out for coffee today! What's keeping
me going is the fact that he would have suffered 100x more had he made
it home and I wanted nothing more than for him to be at peace. I doubt
he would have wanted to live a life where he would be at the hospital
2–3x a week.
Anyway, I know time will help. Tonight I will be picking up dinner for
my mom and myself, cleaning, writing my speech, and watching a movie
later on to help ease me into sleep.

FRIDAY OF THE NBA ALL–STAR WEEKEND IN HOUSTON: Day #4 of what they
call "partial hospitalization" group therapy (9:00–2:30) up in
Houston. [IMHO, you get as much or more as you do as an inpatient.]
The hospital got FMLA certification release from me, now it's a matter
of waiting for everything to sync before I start getting disabilty
pay. Drizzled the whole way home, slowed down things about 20 minutes
although traffic was in a "Rita–style crawl" on the Gulf Freeway down
to the Hobby Airport exits; after that, traffic automagically returned
to full speed. For the day:
White T–shirt
Blue denim chinos
Converse Pro Star sneakers (gray/dark blue)

PS: It gets bad when you can pair your fellow patients by their
sneakers. green Nikes, red Nikes, blue Nikes, orange and white
Reeboks, and a really sad girl in black low–top Chucks...

Snowy this morning, now sunny, very windy and freezing. Actually below
freezing outside. We got back from Florida last night and this is a
very rude awakening to winter. ;–) But it's OK as we had an
incredible time at Walt Disney World. I'd say the highlight was the
day we spent at Discovery Cove (www.discoverycove.com) where our
dolphin swim ended up being twice as long as scheduled and we ended up
with 3 dolphins in our group instead of one.
For dropping off the travel trailer at the storage place, errands, and
now sitting in front of a roaring fire watching NASCAR and being happy
to have a few more days off:
black nylon yoga pants (hot pink stitching)
lilac short–sleeve t–shirt
brown suede and shearling slippers

So you say it is freezing, but you are wearing a short sleeve tee. The

Trust me, the short sleeves were only for in front of the fire. ;–)
When I was outside I had a coat, scarf, and gloves and there's also
always a sweater handy for the house out here for cold days. :–) I'm
glad your heater is repaired––the furnace in my building went out in
December during a cold snap (nights in the 20s) and it was a cold week

it doing nothing but sitting in front of another roaring fire and

NBA ALL–STAR WEEKEND OVER IN HOUSTON: Day #5 of what they call
"partial hospitalization" group therapy (9:00–2:30) up in Houston.
Also had some lab work done. Gassed the car on the way home ($2.189
per gallon) and went grocery shopping at Wal–Mart. Called The Farm;
Mom said "you don't sound like you have a cold" but all the talking
started making my head act up. Went out for two bowls of tortilla soup
and lots of iced tea, excellent to steam out my stuffed–up head.
Probably the fastest drive I had but it was President's Day. All the
freeway driving over the last tank of gas resulted in 28.1 MPG (EPA
mileage for a Scion tC automatic is 23 city/30 highway; the Corolla
was supposedly 30 MPG city but I got about 23 MPG) vs 22.1 MPG driving
around here. I put 1000 miles on the car as of earlier today. For the
