Time for a doppelganger thread!

"EMiriamD" <emiri...@gmail.com>
So, OK. So, like everyone else in the northeast I'm snowed in today.
Already read the paper and put up a big pot of mushroom barley soup.
Too early to watch TV or a movie and not in the mood to clean (no news
there hahaha). Alllllllrighty then, a.f.ers––it's time for a
doppelganger list!
The question to answer is this: what product(s) have you found that
are pretty much doubles of ones that were either discontinued or too
spendy? This does not mean something you found that you simply like
better, i.e. "I like this color/brand of blush better than that one."
It means you found a substitute that's pretty close to an exact
duplicate.
Here are mine:
*For YSL Touche Eclat, I've substituted Revlon's Skinlights Wand in
Luminous Touch
*For Dior Anti–Fatigue undereye concealer, L'Oreal's True Match
concealer
*For OoO Complete Radiance powder foundation, CG's TruBlend powder
foundation
OK, y'all, start yer engines! I'm really looking forward to hear how
creative everyone has been!

Paula Dorf eye primer is as good as or better than Revlon color lock.

I have bought many expensive hand creams over the years, yet the one
that works the best is the $6. (or so) Aveeno Intense Relief Hand
cream. I keep going back to this one, and my husband loves it also.
Also, Maybelline Shine free pressed powder works as well, if not
better, than the Clinique and Lancome pressed powders.

Sephor Makeup Primer is about twice the price of the Body Shop
Mattifier and Primer. They seem exactly the same to me.

I think that the Almay eyeshadow quad called 'Natural Elements' has a
doppelganger for Stila's Kitten at a fraction of the price. The upper
left shade ( the lightest shade) looks exactly like kitten on me.

GMTA, I've been meaning to post about how YR's Bambou shower gel is
almost identical to BBW's discontinued Lemongrass Sage. I don't know
how the EDT and other YR Bambou products compare to the corresponding
BBW Lemongrass Sage products but this one's very very close.
I also bought the Target doppelganger of Allison Burns' pewter hobo
bag. My black leather/microfiber Perlina's wearing out and is not
going to be spring–y enough for me when the warm weather arrives, but
the green beach bag I was using as a tote last year is also getting too
worn out to hold all my crappe securely. Here's the link for the
Tarjay bag:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?J363232AC
The price is right for metallic – something I fear I won't like much
anymore down the road so that rules out the AB hobo.
This loafer, a doppelganger of Clarks' also at Tarjay and that I got
for an insane $5.75 on clearance. Yep, gang, you read that right:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?C593152AC
I can't think of any others ATM but will post more if I do :–).

Any suggestions for Mark Cealer? I'm on the dregs of my last tube.

Oh how I wish this were true for me. I have tried and tried but I
can't get TruBlend powder
foundation to look right on me. It makes me look....chalky and flaky,
matter the shade or the amount of preparation I do.
RIP OoO Complete Radiance powder foundation
"Day" <day_time_ni...@yahoo.ca>
I totally agree, the shades in CG's TruBlend are the downfall for me.
I can't get one to look right but I do like the formula.

<sob> Yes, S., the discontinuing of Shu's Mark Cealer was a terrible
loss. The closest thing I've found is Shu's Pro Spots Concealer, which
is quite good but not nearly the great product that Mark Cealer was.
The search continues...

So is a "doppelganger wanted" post on topic here :–)? I went to the NM
site to look at handbags and am drooling at this one:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?Q120255AC
I'd love to find a less spendy doppelganger of this bag. It looks big
w/o being bulky and I like the deconstructed–ness of it. The color
will work w/ everything too.
TIA

To twist the question – has anyone ever found a doppelganger for OoO Bed
of Roses lipstick? I'm down to the dregs of my last tube (yes, I'm
slow) and would love to find a replacement.
Bed of Roses was my first lemming item.

Well for once I found a perfect doppelganger for something that's been
discontinued–– there wasn't even a gap of searching––I still have a few left
of the product and I've found its replacement already.
The discontinued product is Revlon Colorstay Concealer– spf 6 in Sand Beige
(a wand style concealer). This is *not* the one with salycilic acid.
The doppelganger is Ultima II Wonderwear concealer–spf 6 in Medium (bought
at ulta). I think they are the same product–I'm not kidding that they are
identical and impossible to tell apart. This so rarely happens for me! Yay!

Isn't Ultima II being discontinued altogether now?

Well, I hadn't heard, but that would certainly figure. The display was
stocked at Ulta on friday. If I buy a few of the concealers, then I'll be
stocked till the apocolypse, so it's not as major to me as if it was
something like foundation which I use up quickly. Thanks for the heads up.
