Broken Blood Vessels

"Mouse" <labmous...@hotmail.com>
Hi –
Just wondering if anyone here knows what to do about broken blood
vessels. It seems to be genetic in my family, because my sister has one
on the end of her nose. I have one near my right eye that's very big,
but it is a bright maroonish color and fairly noticeable. I also have
one that developed recently underneath my left eye, at the top of my
cheek, but it's more raised, but only flesh–colored, so it resembles a
small blemish. I was wondering if anyone here has had sclerotherapy or
anything, and how much it cost. I live in NorCal, if that helps for a
price quote or any dermatologist rec's.

I am interested in any replies to this too.I have some on my feet that drive
me crazy and a few on my legs.

Well....since there hasn't really yet been a reply to this thread, I'll put
my 1 cent worth in. My youngest sister had sclerotherapy on at least 15–20
different places on her legs. Seems broken capillaries in the legs are
hereditary with us. She was the only one who acquired them young (17) thus
they bothered her terribly. I tried to call her to ask her about the price
(she's not home) but will post when she calls unless someone else has first
hand information.
She said it was somewhat painful but very effective and is extremely pleased
with the results. I don't live in your area so can't give you a rec on a
dermatologist; sorry!

We have a friend who is a surgeon in central California who has devoted
his practice to sclerothrapy for at least fifteen years. I have not had
it done on my legs because I try to avoid any type of surgery but his
outcomes are extremely good.

I threw away hundreds of dollars on this a few years ago – it wasn't
painful, but the results weren't permanent. I believe there are better
laser treatments avail. now.
As for a broken caps on the face, the mineral makeup does a pretty good
coverup job on 'em, plus age spots, discolorations etc.

Well, I won't tell her! It has only been a few years since she had it.
Personally, I think if you're disposed to it, the broken capillaries will
continue to appear.
She said again today that the injections were painful to her and after
having the first one without a topical anesthetic, she made sure that she
always had one before they started. The laser treatments would be ideal and
probably something she should check into. In her case she was checked by a
doctor before the procedure and it was administered by an assistant. Price
was ~$275 for 3 visits and she could revisit without charge if the
capillaries did not disappear. This is in the southeast US.
