shoes–pointed or not?

"justme" <avong...@verizon.net>
Anyone have an opinion?
Are you buying pointed shoes this season, round, or squared?

I haven't even looked at spring shoes but I try to avoid extreme toe shapes,
whether very pointed or square. They get dated so fast. It's hard to pick
"evergreen" shoe/boot shapes, but I look at a lot of my footwear as
investments; I don't want to look at them a few months later and wonder what
I was smoking when I bought them!
FWIW, I've heard a lot of men comment that they really dislike super–pointy
shoes on women; they think the shoes look witchy.

Mine are almost always open toe for summer so I don't worry about the
shape of the shoes.

i prefer square–toed shoes. i found a pair of suede, tan(ish – a
little more gray than tan, but not completely gray) Kenneth Coles
at Neiman's Last Call yesterday. they're kinda like the black
ones i bought before, with the long toe – goes about an inch past
where my big toe ends, with a square toe, and no laces. anyway,
$120, and these fit! but i didn't buy them. they were only
$120. regular price was something like $280. but i just wasn't
prepared to pay $120 – even tho i had that 10% off coupon.
i may check next week to see if they're still there. if they
are, then i might get them. i'm so conflicted, especially since
i found a seller on ebay that sells KC at low prices.

i can't wear pointed, so i'll be glad when they go out of style completely
(again, for another 30 yrs or so?)

I wear a wide shoe so I try to avoid square toes, they make me look
like I might as well wear the shoebox as the shoe. :)
As others have mentioned, I try to avoid the extremely pointy shoes
since 1) they date quickly and 2) they're not exactly comfortable.
My preference is a pointed toe (as opposed to completely rounded off)
but with a gentle point, not something I could use as a hole punch.
Fortunately for the last year or two it's been easy to find that shape
in lots of colors and styles.
