Observation on Disney fashion

"Jamie" <zuschlag–sequ...@tds.net>
At Disneyworld this past weekend it was rainy and pretty cool (for Orlando,
that is) at about 55 degrees. As we were exiting the monorail at the Magic
Kingdom, I noticed the attractive girl ahead of me had on a pleated
(very)mini–skirt with a light jacket and flip–flops. That really didn't
take my breath away so much as the fact that she had on these grey
legwarmers that looked like they were actually from the '80's as they were
so frayed and worn. They had large ribbing and were worn pulled down over
her foot and under the back of the flip–flops so they were hideously
frayed–obviously not the first time they'd been worn in this manner. To top
off the whole look – the legwarmers were help up with rubberbands!! What a
hoot!
I did notice that she was with a party of girls who were also wearing the
legwarmers and flip–flops although I didn't see anyone else with
rubberbands. Let's hope it was just a show of solidarity instead of fashion
faux pas!
All I could think about was how long it would take those things to soak up
all the surrounding water and become waterlogged.

Ugh!
I work on a university campus, and the things I see on a daily basis
are pretty bad, but this takes the cake.
I have not seen this legwarmer/flip–flop combo on campus yet, but I did
see it in the NYT Sunday Styles section a little while back. It was
the page of photos of actual people in NYC, and what they are wearing.
They were making fun of people for wearing flip–flops in winter.
Anyhow, the ubiquitous pajama pants/flip–flops combo seems to have
cooled a bit.

This is actually a perfect time of year to go if you don't mind encountering
a little rain because it's much cooler (in summer, it's wiltingly hot),
after the holidays (when many vacation), and just before spring break begins
anywhere. We had such a good time we're thinking of going again this coming
weekend!

I will absolutely testify to that. I was there in August several years
ago and it was, indeed, brutally hot. Inside the park they sell these
battery–operated water bottles that both spray water and have a little
fan on them; they're outrageously priced, something like $20 or $25,
but in that kind of heat you just break down and buy one within the
first half hour.

People wearing flip flops no matter what the season should be made fun

Yep! :–) We leave early tomorrow and will stay at Fort Wilderness in
the Magic Kingdom. We'll also do a day at Discovery Cove (including
the dolphin swim) and head to Daytona for the Bud Shootout (in addition
to various Disney things at WDW). We'll be back a week from Friday.
Not a bad Valentine's Day present, eh? ;–)
I can't wait! Today will be a busy day, though, trying to get the
trailer packing finished.

ahahahaha! I promise I will not commit such a fashion faux pas. And
I'll try to take photos in case I see that it's a local–to–DW trend.

Another thing I forgot to add is that 'Gators' were EVERYWHERE. (Isn't that
what those rubbery things are called?) With socks, without socks, with
hose, with pants, shorts, and skirts.
I have a feeling they're going to be huge this spring, summer and fall.
Seasons don't seem to play a part. But I would have thought flip–flops
would be governed by season.

Crocs (those rubber clogs) and flip flops are always in season here in
FL. Most Floridians live in flip flops. The crocs are fairly new,
but, catching on. Nurses wear them to work, but, not usually otherwise,
however, the "kids" are sporting them in all colors everywhere.

"Nanm" <morris....@gmail.com>
The thing about Crocs (I LOVE them, but only wear them indoors in the
winter), is that they can go into the autoclave, and they are good for
long hours on the feet.
They are really big with cyclists, for post–ride wear, when you must
take off your cycling shoes in order to walk around.
However, some cyclists choose to go into the coffee shop, deli,
whatever, clomping around in the cleats, so people will know they are a
cyclist. Ugh. Kind of like a triathlete going out for a run in a
speedo. Double Ugh. Even if he/she has the bod for it.

Crocs have more coverage than flip–flops.

That is pretty funny. They must be back. My pretty fashion–forward 15 year
old babysitter was wearing them the last time she came over. Caught me by
surprise, but after I got over the inital bewilderment, I kind of thought
she pulled it off. She had them on with a narrow cut jean and ballet style
flats.
