Gaucho pants question

wendyandbr...@webtv.net (Wendy)
I was wondering what kind of shoes would be most flattering with gaucho
pants? The long length pants, not the cropped version. I was thinking of
maybe a ballet flat for everyday wear? I live where it's fairly cold but
I love, love, love these pants!! I bought a pair from the Victoria's
Secret catalog and they are made by Zinc. In the catalog they are shown
w/ a strappy high heel and that'd be great for a dressy summer event but
wouldn't work well for winter.
Thanks,
Wendy

I keep thinking "Keds" but then I want to avert my eyes from the
scene.

Hey Wendy
I saw those too and want them.. so I definitely have questions
1) if you are wearing or buying the palazzo pants.. (cropped ones are
called gauchos)
any sort of shoe would work from boots, sandels, flats,pumps...
I want the cropped version.. to wear with boots and strappy sandals..

I tend to think of gauchos as shorter...these may be more (as Stevie
says) palazzo pants, which can be worn with pretty much anything.
But this season I love knee high boots, flat or heeled, with a wide
leg. The look great with a wide belt, slung kind of loose, too, IMO.

I guess I do mean Palazzo pants, I have heard others calling them
gauchos whether long or short but calling them a Palazzo pant is
definitely correct now that I look at the catalog.
I tried a mid–calf suede boot with them today and it was 'ok', I
guess.....the problem is these pants are a very thin, soft, lightweight
material and even though they have a very wide leg still felt somehow
'bunchy' around the leg. Now I'm speaking in another language, LOL!
Maybe it's be better with leather which is smooth. The suede seems to
snag the fabric rather than allow it to glide smoothly while walking
which is, in part the fun of these pants.....the lovely, chic way they
sort of silently swoosh when you walk.
I'm going to look at ballet flats tomorrow.

What about a nice wedge heel? Those can be casual or dress. Or is that not
winter friendly for you?
Sorry if not; we've only had our 4th or 5th cold day today of winter. It's
hard for me to even imagine winter in full swing.

Oh, I used to have a gorgeous lavender pair that sound similar! I wore
them with ballet flats a lot. I also had a pair of gold sandals (much
classier than this sounds!) that tied around the ankle that had the
right weight for the pants.
I can see a leather working here, too.

Check out gauchos on eBay...there are lots of celebrity pictures on
peoples auctions. They look great with pumps, sandals and wedges.
They're a no brainer with flip flops. I can't imagine them with
sneakers.
