Skincare recs needed....

wendyandbr...@webtv.net (Wendy)
I really need to invest in a new line of skincare and would like some
advice. I have tried samples of Kinerase but can't decide if it's really
worth the money. At what age does one usually use 'age prevention'
products? I feel I should use something with SPF but do you need to
double up on sun protection? If your foundation (bare minerals SPF 15)
already has SPF does your eye and face cream also need it?
I would like some recs for combination skin, few but occasional
breakouts, some undereye puffiness. I would like to have a moisturizer
and an eye cream, at least. Possibly a lip treatment too.
I see that the Kinerase line has a cream w/ SPF 15, an eye cream and a
lip cream but is it really worth the money?? Also, is there a
moisturizer out there with SPF that doesn't feel greasy, plastic–y or
heavy?
TIA!!!

As one who was freaked out by basal cell carcenoma when I was forty, my
two cents are that you need to use as many products with spf as you can.
I use the Clairins UV Plus daily unless it is absolutely pouring rain so
my other products with spf are IMO a bonus. I personally don't use
Kinerase but know there are several here who do and who are very happy
with it. Origins makes a nice eye gel for undereye puffiness. I buy
really high end products so I will leave the recs to others.
As far as age prevention products, I started using them religiously when
I was forty and I truly think they've made a difference in my skin. A
lot depends on your skin type, environment and genes. My grandparents
were Hungarian, Latvian and Romanian, which, I think, gives me a slight
edge on not showing age. My parents both had good skin.
I know you will get lots of recs here.

Thanks, Audrey. What kind of a finish does the Origins have? Matte? I
would be interested in what you use even if it is very high end if you'd
like to share. : )

I think the Origins product I mentioned was the eye gel No Puffery. It
is a cooling mask for eyes said to counteract crow's feet, dark shadows
and dark circles.

For all skin types

De–poufs puffs as it brightens and lightens dark circles.

http://tinyurl.com/cfvho I use the Armani luminous silk foundation.
There is also one with a matte finish. I also use the Armani concealer.
I used Bobbi Brown for many years, the foundation stick and then the oil
free foundation. I am easily satisfied if I find a product I like.
I'll use it for a long time and not look at others so even the pricey
ones are used until the very last drop is gone.

Thanks, Susan! I am interested in the OoO line because I have heard so
many good things about it. Buying a sample kit also sounds like a good
idea. I hadn't thought of that.

Thanks, Miss J! I am going to arbonne.com right now to check it out.

The rule of thumb with skin care or cosmetics is that if one product on
your face has a sunscreen, that's all you need. Having said that, I
myself, use a moisturizer with a sunscreen and a foundation with a
sunscreen, even though I know that I really don't need to have both
with sunscreen. As long as one product has one, then you are covered.
You don't say how old you are, but you are obviously concerned about
protecting your skin from aging and sunscreen is the most important
component in order to slow down the aging process. If you don't want
to spend a ton of money on skin care (and you can if you have the
money) and you want easy access to skin care, you can try Oil Of Olay's
Regenerist line which has comprable ingredients to much more expensive
skin care products like Strivectin. If you want to try something a
little more high end, you can pick up the Serious Skin Care line at
Ulta (either the store or at Ulta.com). For aging skin their Vitamin C
and Vitamin A lines are very good. They also make a skin cream for
skin that breaks out occasionally, but is still moisturizing. Eye
cream is a necessity. There are no oil glands in the skin directly
beneath and above your eyes and you really need to use a cream designed
just for that area. Frankly, you can use your eye cream around your
mouth area and your neck area too if you want to eliminate having to
purchase separate products. The thing I really like about the Serious
Skin Care line is you can purchase a try–me kit first to see if it
works for you. If not, then you haven't really invested all that much
money and you can move on to something else.
Good luck to you!

Probably the number one anti–aging product you could ever use is
sunblock and that should start with babies. The best thing you can do
is start now, use the proper amount, and re–apply when you should.
I feel I should use something with SPF but do you need to
double up on sun protection? If your foundation (bare minerals SPF 15)
already has SPF does your eye and face cream also need it?
Foundation with SPF in it is great and all, but most people aren't
going to apply enough of it to give adequate protection and it wears
off during the day, so the protection you end up with at the end of
the day is probably zero. Even SPF lotions that you wear outside, or
at the beach, need to be re–applied every so many hours.
Bare Minerals is all about applying lightly and in just the areas you
need some coverage, so it's not even designed to be proper protection,
in that sense.
Another thing is that even if the foundation did the trick, what about
your neck and ears. They need protection, too.
SPF 15 is the minimum recommendation and if you are very fair, or have
any other risk factors, it's probably inadequate for you.
So, the bottom line is, use whatever foundation you like and if it has
SPF, that's nice, but act as if it has none and apply a good sunblock
under your foundation. There are lots of nice ones that people here
will surely recommend.
I would like some recs for combination skin, few but occasional
breakouts, some undereye puffiness. I would like to have a moisturizer
and an eye cream, at least. Possibly a lip treatment too.
Use a gentle cleanser, like Cetaphil. I add a little baking soda at
night to exfoliate and use a 5% or 10% Persagel on blemishes. Some
people here use a mask made of crushed aspirin. Very inexpensive
solutions.
You don't need a separate eye cream, they usually aren't that
different from the regular moisturizers anyway IMO, just make sure the
regular moisturizer can be usedd in the eye area.
You do, however, need a separate daytime moisturizer with SPF.
I see that the Kinerase line has a cream w/ SPF 15, an eye cream and

Lip cream? There are lots of good ones, just make sure it doesn't ave
menthol, camphor, or any other tingly irritants in it. And be sure it
has a good SPF number, like 45 or so. I use Blistex Clear Advance SPF
30, because it is clear, not greasy, sort of satin–matte (it's
marketed to men, actually, so it's not lipglossy at all) and has a
nice citrusy scent.
TIA!!!

I am shopping around for a new skin care line. I have been using
Arbonne http://www.arbonne.com (sample packets) for two weeks now.
That is the only way I buy something, is to try it first. The line is
called NutriMinC RE. I really like it but the price is very high. A
few things I noticed is that it's many steps, a few that I do not need.
However the bottles are large and you really do need a tiny bit.
Something interesting they offer is a club you join for around $35–29
dollars a year (the price is lower after the first year). It's not one
of those clubs where they ship you products every few months. The club
lets you buy your items at 35% off retail whenever you want.
So far, I have tried the whole NutriMinC Line, The Awaken Body Scub,
and The Thermal Fusion Enzyme Masque. I bought the scrub and I am
going to purchase the Masque because it is awesome.
If I do purchase the skin care line, it wil only be after I use
EVERYTHING I already have. That is my new rule.
