If you know your Docs size, you probably can't do better than ebay. There
are usually a lot of dealers listing multiple pairs, multiple sizes, new.

There are no 'cheap' Docs in Hong Kong. Their prices here are about the
same or higher than in the west.
There may be fakes but you'll get what you pay for.

I'm not even sure why anyone would bother conterfeiting Docs anyway. I
don't think they are made as well as they used to be. I see them at steep
discounts at places like Marshall's, and on ebay by the gzillions.
I have some cute cloggy–sandally docs that I wear fairly often, but my
collection of clunky spectators, bucks, etc. is unworn. I won't part with
them but I don't know if I'll ever wear them a lot. They haven't been as
"evergreen" as my Chucks.

The same thing happened with Timberland shoes. The company I used to
work for in Hong Kong were the local distributors for Timberland, and
we used to get good discounts on what was then a highly priced
product. The first pair I bought (about 15 years ago) were a real
quality item and lasted me for years. Another pair I bought much later
were nothing like as good.
I think these companies start off with a good product and build up a
reputation with it. After a while they cut their costs and their
quality but are able to keep selling at high prices for a while
because of the name they've made for themselves. When customers
eventually realise they're buying ordinary junk the company disappear
and start up another brand.

Very typical endeed. For instance Abu Garcia had most reputable name amongst
anglers during several decades. Gradually almost all the production went
overseas and Americans bought the trademark. Finally the much praised brand
turned to be a mere joke. Now they have regained some respect. Some reels
are still made in Sweden.

Well, at least for a while, Converse had trouble with people
counterfeiting Chucks.
