Flat iron: Hai or Chi?

"Lipgloss Junkie" <lipglossjun...@gmail.com>
I've combed through a bunch of posts here about the best flat
iron...I've noticed that InStyle says that the Hai is the best and a
bunch of posters mentioned Chi.
I've looked on eBay for them – there are lots of brands of CHI flat
irons. What brands are good or bad?
Any opinions on Hai vs CHI?
Thanks!

Hey Melanie,
I am new to this group, but hope I can offer a little bit of insight.
I have been a licensed hairstylist for 12 years, and would die without
my Chi iron. I must admit that I have never used a Hai, but I know
that there's no way it could possibly top the Chi. It makes my job
soooo easy! Also, just as a friendly reminder, always be sure your
hair is COMPLETELY dry before flat–ironing. Have a great one!

I've used a lot of hair irons, and IME both are good. IMHO the most
important factor is not which brand, but getting an iron with ceramic
plates that gets *hot*. Many just don't get hot enough to straighten
and smooth resistant hair. Mine at the moment is a FHI model, 1"
ceramic plates, and has adjustable heat from 140 deg F all the way to
450. My sis has the same thing with wider plates, and neither of us
ever use anything but the hottest setting. It's what our hair requires.
So, IMHO as long as it's got ceramic plates and gets hot hot HOT, it's
fine.
HTH!

I wound up with a Hai Convertible...$69 on eBay. I love it. It has an
adjustable dial I keep the temp at about 200 – 250. Works really well.
I (heart) eBay – my stylist wanted $150 for almost the same flat iron.
