Picks and pans/ favorite products from 2005

I think my best buy so far was the Stila golden moon palette. The
packaging, selection and brushes make it a great value and I think I
will use every single color.
The products I didn't like as well as others were from the Redken color
extend line. The smooth down and all soft smell so much better IMO.

Bare Escentuals tinted mineral veil and Smashbox eyeliner. Can't live
without them.

I look forward to this thread each year, it helps me get an overview of
what's out there.
My favorties:
"Lovely" edp and lotion
Maybelline Wonder Finish foundation
Ulta shadows – cheap, long lasting color and love the look with wet
application technique
Benefit "Dr Feelgood" (though would like an inexpensive knockoff)
especially under Ba
re Escentuals Mineral foundation and on ski days
Bourjois 3D gloss in raspberry
Best of all "Avage" on face at night, though this is not new to '05
Also, I bought the wrong type of Anessa SunScreen, I don't care for the
liquidy version as much as cream but it's still the holy grail of
sunscreens.
Keep em coming a.f.!

Picks:
Skincare–
Alpha Hydrox 12% glycolic acid cream. Excellent product.
Philosophy "Pigment of Your Imagination"– the 2% hydroxyquinone gel. NOT
the Philosophy product (ridiculously enough with the same product name!)
with the other putative skin lighteners, which were useless.
DDF Fade Cream with SPF 30 (also a 2% hydroxyquinone product but with
sunscreen added)
I hadn't seen my father or step–mother in many months. I visited them
this week and my step–mother repeatedly commented that my complexion is
glowing and that she's never seen it as even and bright and she wanted
to know what I've been using. Those are the three products I've added to
my skin care repertoire since the last time I saw them. While I've been
extremely happy with the results, it's nice to get some unsolicited
corroboration that it wasn't my imagination from someone who hasn't seen
be since before I was using them. It's also nice to know that the most
effective skincare I've found so far is in a reasonable price range (and
dirt cheap compared to the useless and overhyped high end crappe I've
purchased over the last few years)
Cosmetics–
Rediscovery of Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. This applies
perfectly now that I'm exfoliating on a much more regular basis.
Awake Stardom eyeliner (click pen format with brush tip)
Hair Care:
Marlies Moller Pashmisilk line, which is overpriced, available at only
one place I'm aware of (one Nordstrom store) and unfortunately, my
favorite hair care line ever. I may not even be able to replace it
because if that one Nordstrom store stops carrying it, I'll never find
it. I can't even find an online source!
Miscellaneous:
The two crowns I got on my two front teeth!
I went a bit (okay. VERY) overboard on clothing, shoes and handbags and
I couldn't begin to list the things I'm thrilled with so I won't bother.
All in all this was a tremendously boring cosmetics year for me. I got a
lot of stuff that's perfectly fine but nothing particularly stood out as
memorable or worth replacing. Anything I replaced was something I had
already been using prior to 2005.

I've got to second the recommendation for the Alpha–Hydrox cream. I
have normal–to–dry skin and a teeny bit of this (teeny, as it is
strong!) has helped exfoliate my skin very well.
My favorite product, though, must be the Biotherm clarifying cleansing
milk I bought. It is what I wish Cetaphil was for me–– removes makeup,
rinses easily, doesn't foam, and doesn't leave a film on my skin. I'm
using a moisturizer after it now, but in the warmer weather I only used
it and eye cream before bed. I bought a 13 oz bottle of it earlier this
year, and it will probably last me until well into spring.
What I also returned to this year is the Phyto straightening balm–– I
don't like anything sticky or greasy on my hair and this really works
on my very thick, very dry hair.

2005 Picks
Kusco–Murphy Beach Hair (posted rave not too long ago, and probably my
best find this year)
Too Faced Hollywood Glamor palette – good colors, and bronzers I can use
even on my fair skin
Revlon Super lustrous lip gloss (late to this party, came I)
Baby Phat jeans
Urban Decay Skull Shadow box – a great collection of colors, including
two of my all time favorites, grifter and chopper. If you apply these
with a sponge applicator you get a deep glittery color; if you use a
brush something more subtle.
Happy 2005!

Stacy,
I found one Marlies Moller Pashmisilk product listed on the Bigelow Chemists
site. See below. I would try calling them to see if they carry the rest of
the line. Might be worth it for an alternative source.
