Prescriptives blush brush is matted down...

"Jessica" <Jessica.As...@americredit.com>
I've used the Prescriptives blush brush for awhile, and I wash it every
few months. The problem is, my blush application is uneven because the
bristles in the center of the brush are very matted down...so the blush
only attached to the outer bristles. Do I have to buy a new brush
already? I think I've only had this one for less than a year.
TIA,
Jessica

How often do you clean it? I clean my brushes fairly frequently. I
have both a Shu and a Bobbi Brown brush cleaner and let the brushes air
dry. This really seems to help them get back to their ususal shape.

I think you need to wash the brush much more frequently. I try to wash all
my brushes every couple of weeks––and if I had oily skin, I would do it even
more often. The brush isn't just putting color on your skin, it's picking
up oils, foundation, moisturizer *from* your skin.
I use a mild shampoo mixed with lots of water. I "swish" the brushes, one
at a time, in the solution (using a separate batch of solution for shadow
and blush brushes), and then swish through several changes of fresh water to
make sure the brushes are thoroughly rinsed.

Hello, Jessica
If my brush is matted, after I wash it, I very gently use my
wide–toothed comb on the bristles. When the comb goes through the
bristles easily, I squeeze out any water that may still be in the
bristles, and lay the brush down sideways on the window sill, making
sure the bristles stick out beyond the sill. HTH

I wash my brushes in Paul Mitchell's Baby Don't Cry shampoo. Wet the
brush, pour a little shampoo in my hand, swish/squoosh the brush around
until it's lathered up, add more water if necessary, rinse well in
tepid water. (Basically, I give the brush a shampoo.) Gently squeeze
out excess water in a towel, lay flat to dry on a ledge/windowsill with
bristles hanging over the edge. I do this separately for each brush.
