To make myself feel better, I present to you a couple of photos of
Alyson Hannigan, whose dress was my favorite at this year's Emmies on
two counts: I loved the dress itself, and I thought she looked
spectacular in it (well, maybe a tie with Beyonce in that black velvet
number she wore on the red carpet).

The dress you linked is beautiful. I confess that in the survey, I voted
"miss" for every single outfit, though some are, admittedly, worse than
others. I notice that the photos are all taken from an angle that makes the
women appear shorter than they are. When the camera is positioned higher
than the subject's eye level, it makes the model look shorter and stouter.
I'm very sensitive to this because I'm short, but even tall slender women
look squat when photographed from that angle. (In Style magazine publishes
red carpet photos that are taken from this angle, and I think it is
universally unflattering.)
