My skin is on fire! Need moisturiser rec!

"Lipgloss Junkie" <lipglossjun...@gmail.com>
We've had unusual weather here in Vancouver for the past few weeks and
it is wreaking havoc on my face. It's been dry and below freezing for a
while and my skin is blotchy and feeling pretty tight. To top it all
off, I've broken out a bit – I think as a backlash to not usuing the
right moisturiser for this weather.
Any recommendations? My skin is T–zone oily. I'm looking for something
calming, that can relieve the redness + not make me look like an oil
slick. Drug store recs would be great but at this point I'm open to
dept store brands too.

Aloe gel might do the trick. It looks kind of shiny on the skin, but
is not greasy.
As a more expensive alternative, I've been very happy with two Suki
products (see www.sukisnaturals.com) that might work for you. During
the day I use their Velvet facial creme, which is a light moisturizer,
and at night, their chamomile serum. The serum is an oil, but you
apply just a drop to damp skin, and I haven't had any problems with
clogged pores. You can get a trial pack for oily skin that contains a
serum sample that has lasted me for a month, and a moisturizer sample
that lasted for a week or so.

Aloe gel will make you itch.... Ewwwwww.
Aloe gel is used effectively as a burn treatment because it soothes the
skin and calms it down. It shouldn't make anyone itch,
unless perhaps you're allergic to aloe vera (very rare, I'd think,
because the plant is so mild).
My great–grandmother used to keep an aloe plant that we'd use whenever
we'd burn ourselves at the stove, or scrape our knees, etc.
It was calming and wonderfully simple.

Aloe gel will make you itch.... Ewwwwww.
On very sensitive skin, aloe gel can have a burning, stinging sensation. It
can be very uncomfortable. But it is only temporary and the aloe does soothe
the skin after it is absorbed. I suggest using aloe after one's skin has
time to acclimate indoors.

Biotherm's Aquasource balm for very dry skin works wonders for me, but I
have dry skin.

I second the Aloe Vera gel. You might opt to only use it at night, as
it does look shiny. Hope this helps. (unfortunately, oat–based lotion
makes me break out in hives, so I can't recommend that one .... )

Thanks you guys!
I'm basically treating my skin as if I had a sunburn – cause that's
what it feels like.
Last night and this morning I used an aloe gel that I use for sunburns
– it also has chamomile in it so I'm sure that helping too. I used an
extremely thin layer and it seems to be working. I might stick with it
for another day. The Vancouve weather is finally warming up a bit and
the rain has started back up again so it won't be so dry out there.
Thanks!

Go to www.purposeskincare.com.
This is a water–based moisturizer that is made specifically for
sensitive skin that tends to redden. Has an spf30.
Also Serious Skin Care makes an Emu Aloe cream for the face which is
very good. Check it out at HSN.com or see if you can get a good deal
on Ebay. Good luck!

The PURPOSE=AE Redness Reducing Moisturizer looks good. No one has
review it at MUA yet. I'll check for it at the drug store.
