My dry cleaning smells like burning chemicals. Is this normal?

"Nancy" <NancyKe...@gmail.com>
Hi!
Well I just paid $40 for drycleaning of some sweaters, and when I
brought it home and took off the plastic cover, an unpleasant smell hit
me. It's like something was burned and kind of has a chemical smell to
it as well. I've let them air out for the past 2 days, and the smell is
still strong. It's hard to describe, but I don't remember noticing
anything of the sort last time I had some drycleaning done (several
years ago). My clothes did *not* smell like this before I dropped them
off.
Has anyone had a similar experience? I want to ask for a refund because
I can't possibly wear these garments as is. I'll offend
someone...please tell me this smell isn't just a normal thing!
Thanks,
Nancy

I believe I've read that this can happen if they drycleaner doesn't use
fresh chemicals. Have you called the cleaner? I would do that first. If
they offer to re–clean––using fresh chemicals––I would let them do it. If
not, I would phone another cleaner and ask their opinion.
