deceptive Bluefly ad

"Stevie" <privilegemagaz...@charter.net>
Hi there
I don't necessarily go to bluefly and buy..I shop and jones around for
things. Cofarb knows I have been looking at this cool sweater on their site.
DYING to buy it but waiting for the best price.
I get this great email from Bluefly that states it's giving extra 20% off
cashmere
here's the email headline
Extra 20% off Everything Cashmere + Free upgrade on shipping
the body of the email states that too.. there is an asterisk in the body of
the email.. but if you click that, it takes you to the cashmere page and
doesn't explain..
I noodled around for a while and looked at the prices and they had gone UP
from a few days ago and even last week.... so I was confused.
here's the catch..
and it's on the sidebar
Extra 20% Off Cashmere when you buy 2 or more styles
Nowhere on the email does it say you need to buy 2 items to get
20% off.
now that's just not right!

Seems to me this calls for a righteous email from you, Stevie. And
call it like it is: deceptive advertising.

I'm not impresed that the price went up on the sweater you were
watching. Sounds like that email was a whole lot of bait and switch.
I've looked BlueFly a bunch of times, even started a shopping basket
but for some reason haven't bought. I'm chalking it up to gut feeling
of not really wanted to buy there.
Oh, and I think that 'winning a purse' thing is a sham.

There's an asterisk. Probably enough to get it past the legal eagles.

And (on the bottom of the email I got from them) the asterisk points
you to this:
"Reductions will be reflected on each cashmere item at any time when
two or more cashmere items are placed in your shopping bag."
Honestly, I've never thought Bluefly's has such great prices. Their
merchandise is such a bizarre selection of stuff. I think they were
better back when they first started. Now you can do better elsewhere.

I also think their prices are high––or at least that their items are too
rich for my blood. (This does nothing to prevent me from encouraging Stevie
to buy from them, of course.) It *can* be educational, however. I do a lot
of window shopping to see what's available, who makes it, etc. Then, when I
see something comparable at Marshall's or on ebay, I know what it's
worth––or at least what people are being charged for it.

I think I've only purchased from them once, or at least that's the
only time I remember. I bought Joe a golf shirt, I don't remember the
brand. Anyway, the sizing was WAY far off, he could barely skin it
over his head. It went back but after paying for shipping both ways I
probably should have just kept it and used it as a dust rag or
something.
I very much appreciate websites which have remarks something like
"sizing runs small" or "for a closer fit, please order one size
smaller" and so on.

I sent them an email through their system. what's interesting is that when I
clicked on the asterisk on the email, is that it showed me the cashmere
page.. NOT the qualifier..
darn and I was ready to plunk down the plastic for a vince cashmere cutaway
sweater too
