Help finding toiletry bag

"chattycat" <fakeaddr...@yoohoo.com>
I'm a long–time lurker (several years at least)! I'm looking for a women's
toiletry/travel bag – not a hanging one but a traditional zip top one. I've
looked online and in department stores. Any ideas? I need one for a
Christmas gift for my mom. Thanks!

Do you mean the zip top toiletry bags usually used by men?

If you are looking for cloth or plastic you can find them anywhere from
drug stores to department stores. If you want leather, high end dept.
stores or stores that sell leather products have them. If you want mesh
style bags I ordered a set of walker style bags from Nordstrom, five for
twenty–two dollars.

I have a zip top travel bag, where the whole lid zips open. I like this
better than the traditional shaving kit style where there's just one
zipper across the top and you have to feel around for items.
With this one, you can see everything inside.

I've tried them all – and finally got the Vera Bradley –
it's round, zip top, all fabric (washable), lots of compartments, so no
bottles tipping or jumble, zippered inner compartment in lid for
flat–ish items....I keep it loaded to go at all times. Check ebay –
altho time is running short – it's retails for about 45 bucks, but I
think it's worth it.

Try www.lesportsac.com. They are also available at Lord and Taylor,
Bloomies and various other B & M stores (the website has info on
others).
They have many cute patterns, are lightweight and the toiletry bags are
usually already gift boxed to go.

Oh, I get it now – I have one in that style. It's a Hello Kitty one.
Translucent pink plastic, top zips almost completely open with 2
zipper pulls, handle on top, bottle compartments surrounding a larger
open space. I keep travel sizes and GWP type bottles in it, like you
said – ready to go. Keeps things upright very well and packs a lot of
stuff without a problem.
Crabtree & Evelyn also sold a set of those in three sizes, I bought a
set from their website. Pink, blue and mint green tapestry fabric in
graduated sizes. I keep costume jewelry in them. I like the Hello
Kitty plastic one for travel use since it's easier to clean up shampoo
spills or whatever.

I just bought a Japonesque travel valet from ballbeauty.com
(http://ballbeauty.com/gotta_go_travel_valet.htm) and I love it. It is not
leather or anything but it is great. It is small and light but it holds a
*lot* of different things and is very organized. I used to use product
samples when I traveled but I have learned that it is better to use the
products that I know and love, especially while traveling abroad, and all of
the little bottles, pump and funnel that come with this kit let me do just
that.

Kind of – but I'm looking for a larger woman's version.

If your mom likes to go on long walks or other outdoorsy activities
when travelling, she might like what I use for a toiletry bag: a nylon
fanny pack. I put my various potions in small containers, then group
them in ziplock bags in the fanny pack. (The Container Store carries a
big range of little plastic bottles and jars.) Then I always have a
fanny pack to use if I need it.
