Expert in your (makeup) field? Which category do you reign?

"MaureyL" <Maur...@aol.com>
I know we're ALL experts in the world of makeup, but is there an area
in which you feel that you reign supreme? For myself, I really feel
that I have discovered the best loose powders in the WORLD and the
application of them is the secret to my makeup design. These are the
powders that I cannot live without..
Px Custom blend loose w/ oil control component (all over)
Laura Mercier brightening powder (under eyes only)
Px Magic loose powder (red neutralizer––used on red areas of the face)
Jo Malone Finishing powder (lightly applied with a brush to blend all
the rest in)
It's true, I use each and every one of these every time I do my full
face makeup ––– anyone else truly an expert in a specific category??

I'm not sure whether I'm impressed or simply overwhelmed by the number of
powders you are using, Maurey!
I really need a new foundation and some sort of undereye concealer––and I am
clueless. I think the problem stems largely from the fact that I do nearly
all my shopping online now. I no longer cruise past all those cosmetics
counters at department stores. I guess my AF New Year's resolution is to
find foundation and concealer.

I've never used so many powders, but I love what I wear on my eyes. I
have been using a MAC gold shadow on the lid, with Shu gold in the
crease. Today I used my new Shu matte beige on the lid with the gold in
the crease. I lined with rich ground in the MAC fluidlines so the eye
is light and bright. My new glasses are rimless so people can see my
eyes now. I still love the Senna brow color and use a Dior from my only
quint under the brow. Oh, and then I put on a few coats of mascara.
Today I used the 24k Shu curler and it was great.

Not sure if I'm truly an expert at it but I can do a decent job of a)
applying a full face w/o use of brushes and b) using one single palette
to apply a full face, mixing colors to maximize the depth of the
colors. EMD is witness to both (Vicki...in the car...with a Liz
Collinge palette....).
If I'm not truly gifted enough to be expert in these areas, I know I am
in my own version of WNTW – eyeshadows not to wear if one's eyes are
supersensitive.

Yes, indeedy, I will testify to Miss Vicki's amazing ability to do a
full face...in the car...with one palette! Amazing!
As for moi, I'm sort of an expert on concealers. I have lots of
different kinds, including theatrical, and I used to do lots of
coverage on my kids and their friends when they were in the high school
musicals. For myself I have different ones for undereye, for zits, for
the inner/outer eye corners, for ruddy patches on the face.

And I'm witness to EMD's ability with concealers :–). I just wish I
could have seen your work for your kids' theatre groups. It sounded
amazing.
