Help! X–mas party, red dress, what hose?

"Tungsten" <Whitehall.Ma...@gmail.com>
Hi all!
I'm going to a Christmas party tomorrow night (artsy crowd as opposed
to office folk) and am planning to wear a sleeveless red dress. I'll
be wearing black heels and carrying a black clutch. I'd bought a pair
of sheer black stockings to wear, but now I've come across some
mentions of not wearing hose that are darker than your dress. Should I
be wearing nude hose instead?
Thanks for any advice – hosiery was never my strong suit accessory–wise
– put a lipstick in my hands and I'm much better!

Personally I would wear nude to show off the dress and accessories and
sort of let the legs fade into the background. I love to wear black
with black garments. That's just my personal opinion.

My better half & I just had a discussion about this post and pretty much came
up with your thoughts Audrey. In most cases, when in doubt, wear the nude
hose...

No nude hose! Better to wear none than nude! Ok...now that my distaste for
nude stockings has been vented...depending on the weight of the dress and
the shoe, an opaque (not tights) stocking would be most modern...you are
partying with an artsy crowd after all! ;–)

However if that's to extreme for you, consider black fishnet
http://www.wolfordboutiquelondon.com/item.asp?pid=210 or at the very least,
a nude fishnet. =) http://www.wolfordboutiquelondon.com/item.asp?pid=208
Have a wonderful time!

Thanks for the replies! I thought long and hard and then went with one
of Blushun's ideas, since it kept the look slightly artsy yet still
fashionable. I got a lot of compliments, so I think I made the right
choice! Thanks, guys.
