Banana Republic music

"Powlo" <grou...@pgr.co.uk>
Hello everyone,
I made a trip to New York recently to do a little christmas shopping. I
visited what seemed like thousands of stores, including several Banana
Republic outlets.
The music in there is great – sort of slightly chilled dance – not
really sure on the genre. Does anyone know what kind of artists/
tracks they are playing at the minute so I can junt some of it down?
I know I should have asked while i was there but I didn't, and know
it's really bugging me!
Cheers,
Paul

Hello again. I've answered my own question, but thought it was polite
to let you know. The branded music is produced by a sourcing company
called Rock River (extensive googling to the rescue). They also
produced a CD for customers to buy (I'm back in the UK now so that will
be tricy). Details of one on Amazon here:

Thanks!

If you like that CD, there are a few streaming stations you should
listen to that are in iTunes. Go to 'radio' and they are in the
'electronica' section:
*Beat Blender on SomaFM
*Groove Salad on SomaFM
*Jazz Musique
*House Musique
I listen to these stations all the time. Love them.

I thought it was a typo'd "hunt".

This makes me feel really good because now I know I can develop a heroin
addiction and quit it. Obviously I'll be able to." –Pamie

Very interesting! There are a lot of groups on that CD that I like so I
might get that CD with an Amazon g.c. I have. (I think people who like that
CD might also like the CD's from Gotan Project).
The thing about me and Banana is that every so often their in–store music
includes a song that I abhor and I end up bee–lining out of the store. The
funny thing is that in general I like their music.

I figured Banana's store CDs were produced by Muzak like the other Gap Inc
brands. Wrong, I guess.
"K.M." <drew13...@aol.com>
Actually it is Muzak. I work at BR and checked the CD over the
weekend. I remember there used to be CDs that you could purchase at
the counter––much like the CDs at Starbucks or BBW. Maybe Rock River
produced those CDs. But they haven't sold CDs for a couple years now,
and the CDs that are playing in–store are Muzak. Each store gets a CD
playlist, so if you were really interested in finding out who the
artists are, I'm sure you could take a look. The last several CDs (we
receive a new on monthly) had a lot of Coldplay, Massive Attack, and
various french singers.
