The problem here is that these watches and the folks that sell these watches
are usually associated with some form of organized crime including the
mafia, gangs, or illegal drug trade. Therefore your money is funding these
types of activities. Watches are protected by trademarks. If you owned a
company that produced a product, you would be very upset if another company
was producing cheap knockoffs with your company name on the product! There
is no justifiable excuse for purchasing this type of product. None at all.
The interesting thing is that many folks that purchase these illegal
knockoff watches can actually afford the "real thing" and many times they
could afford several dozen of the "real thing".
On the other hand, I have no problem with watches that are Rolex
looka ikes and that DO NOT have the Rolex name on the dial. That is simply
free enterprise.
Audrey, your Seiko is a beautiful watch, however, if you talk to some folks
that work in law enforcement, you would throw all of the fakes in the trash.
