Hi! I have a prescription for "BenzaClin" = clindmycin + benzoyl
peroxide gel. Unfortunately the 'script has expired so I cannot refill
it easily.
There's lots of spam that offers to help you with that problem.
I wouldn't recommend any of it. Probabably better biting the bullet
and going the usual route. Derms usually don't do nasty things unlike
some of them. Anyway, if you need BenzaClin, you need a doctor looking
at your skin.
Does anyone know of a similar OTC product? I will ask the
pharmacist but af experience/recs always rule!
Benzoyl peroxide alone is almost always OTC. Not sure where they draw
the line on strength or even if it's still there. (They have increased
the maximum strength over the years.)
Went out to the FDA Web site, the only other antibiotic that's sold in
combination with benzoyl peroxide is erythromycin... and that combo is
also a legend drug.
You may be able to get by with straight benzoyl peroxide, my
dermatologist (offnetwork now, alas... but I haven't needed one since
that happened) always tended to overkill problems.
