OT: "ebay" visit this morning

Jean <highs...@suscom–maine.netNOSPAM>
I know this is Off Topic, but thought it is a cute story...here goes:
about a month ago I received an email from a public relations company in
NY that purpurted to be on behalf ebay. It said, in part, "Through
your work with eBay in the past, we know that you are a dedicated,
successful eBay seller. And, we also know just how stressful the holiday
time can be. eBay would like to give you a moment to relax in the midst
of all the e–mails, packaging, and gift wrap.
As a token of our appreciation, we would like to hand deliver a small
gift to you at home on Tuesday, December 6 to help you relax, take a
step back and enjoy the holiday season!" It went on to say that if I
wanted verification that it was a legit email, to call ebay's Senior Mgr
of Corporate Communications.
I forwarded it along to the spoof address but this time, did not receive
a reply.
I did nothing with the email. Then, about 2 weeks later, I get a call
from the "President" of the PR firm. She assured me this was all legit,
blah blah blah...I then asked her, "so how many sellers are getting this
gift". She said 100, end of conversation.
Well, this morning, someone rang the door at 9:30. A woman was standing
there holding a tray with <hot> coffee, glass of orange juice, a rose,
plate of muffins and doughnuts. All the glassware had the ebay logo. An
ebay apron, slippers and the morning local paper to boot. She then took
my picture and asked if there was someone else around to take OUR photo.
lol.

Wow. Happy holidays!
BTW, Martha Stewart is having an "ebay day" today. She is on in the
background whilst I am "working on my dissertation".

It sounds great, except for the part where someone shows up unannounced at
my door and wants to take my picture!
Yo––Ebay! Where's my brunch?
