Wide–Calf Knee High Boots

paulsiu1...@yahoo.com
My girlfriend has normal size shoe size (8) but large calves (18"
circumference). She really like a pair of knee high boots but have
given up because no one seems to make them in her size.
I was wondering if anyone with similar specification have purchased
boots that fit? It would be really nice to give her a pair for
Christmas. It would also be nice to find a place that have good return
policies since buying shoes for others is a real hit or miss.
Places I have tried so far:
– Nordstorm (said they no longer carry wide–calf)
– Naturalizer (said they don't carry in the store, gave me a ref to a
Non–Naturalized store)
– Lane Bryant (apparently do not carry boots)
– Macy (Had a pair of Naturalizer Effie wide–calf, but they were not
wide enough at 16")
– Jessica Jones (gave up after operator was unable to give me any
specificiation)
I may try Jcrew next since I heard they carry wider–calf. There's also
this site:

also
http://www.duoboots.com – unfortunately they are in the UK.

If what you want is Western boots, James Leddy Boots (Abilene, TX)
will make full–custom product. Pricey but undoubtedly worth it.
I'm no boot type myself, but I used to live in Abilene.

www.silhouettes.com
No affiliation. Just cursed with wide calves.
Caveat. The boots are not the to die for boots that you see other
women wearing. And they are cut with wide ankles that are very baggy
on me. But they definitely carry the circumference that you need.

Heh... I have the opposite problem, scrawny calves and difficulty
finding boots to fit them when everything I seem to see this season and
last season is touting "extended calves." Extended is retail code–word
for "large calves." Maybe that will help your googling search.
I know for sure these two places offer them, because I was disappointed
the other day that was all that was left on their shelves:

Good luck!

Zappos.com has a ton of wide–calf boots, in both casual and dress
categories.

I'm not sure why Nordstrom says they no longer carry wide–calf, unless
it was just in–store, as they have some online, including this
stylish–looking one –
http://tinyurl.com/cn936
Just try searching for wide(r) calf or shaft in shoes. There is a
free shipping code, NORDSHIP1, for orders of $100 or more.
Otherwise, Zappos is great for this, as another poster mentioned.
They have free shipping and free return shipping and often list the
circumference of the calf in the description, so that would be very
helpful.

You can get her Legloves:
http://www.twelvetwelve.com/legloves.html
:which are essentially legwarmers–––but not in the 1980's sense of the
word. They are much sexier, and much more sleek and refined. They come
in two sizes, and for your girlfriend, you would choose A+.They come in
about 8 different colors and 4 patterns, and good news, they cost about
1/3 of the price of a pair of boots. And if you wear them with the
right shoes, they even look like boots. {They're great for the bedroom,
too.}

Hi Paul,
I'm in the same boat as your girlfriend. I wear an 8.5 and the
circumfrence of my calfs is about 16.5–17''. I got some boots online
from Lane Bryant with an 18'' circum. and they are great!
not much of a heel, but they are so comfortable.
hope this helps!

As a follow–up, I managed to purchased her a pair of boots from
Silhouette. They did fit her calf, but apparently hit near the widest
pair of the calf. A bad idea... I realized now that I need to get her
boots that fit 18" calves and also go all the way up to her knee (I
guess roughly 17" shaft). Not exactly easy requirements.

That's the site I used. I got black leather and they are really
comfortable. There isn't much of a heel which i find nice since it's a
change from the heeled shoes that I do wear otherwise.
Size 8 is showing a 17 3/4 circum. You might want to try those.
It's hard– I know, but it can happen! :)
oh, it it may say that the boots are on backorder for a while, but i'd
go ahead and get them if you're interested. I was told that mine would
be available today actually, but received them in the mail last monday.
Good luck.
