Best Products to use with hair straightener

lindakendall3...@yahoo.com.au
Hi,
I have recently purchased a hair straightener. What is the best hair
care product to use? I am currently using a serum but this is probably
too heavy. Also do you apply product when hair is dry (just before
straightening) or when hair is wet (prior to blow drying)? My
straightener is not a wet to dry straightener, so my hair needs to be
dried prior to straightening. Would appreciate brand names of products,
but as I am Australian, some products may not be available here.
Regards,
Linda

Hi Linda––
I have naturally wavy hair so for me, straightening can be tricky. But
here's what I've found to work best for me: I start when my hair is
damp w/ any kind of mousse and a medium or flexible–hold gel like
TIGI's Bedhead "Head Shrink". Then I blow dry using medium heat and a
big brush. If I'm going for extra body, I blow dry w/ my head
up–side–down. After it's dry, I split hair into sections starting w/
the bottom. I smooth on a serum like Toni & Guy's "No Kink Smoothing
Balm" or Biosilk to each section before straightening. Afterwards, I
finish with a heavier pomade just on the ends (to prevent
flyaways)––any kind will do––and then a bit of hairspray if I really
want it to stay in place. I tried several products and techniques
before I found what really works so I would suggest you experiment!
Good luck and happy straightening!

Hi,
I have wavy hair and this is what i do:
Put Bumble and Bumble straight on the ends ( this stuff is amazing)
then sprits Bumble and Bumble thickenign spray on roots
Blow dry w/ a round brush
Then use my straightner (Paul Brown is amzing)
finish w/ Fredrick Fekaki (sp?) pomade.
This seems to work for me!
