Poll––Touche Eclat, Dior Skinflash or laura mercier??

"MaureyL" <Maur...@aol.com>
I am nearing the end of my last Touche Eclat and I'm wondering if I
should break out and try something different. How many of you have
switched to the Dior product? There's also a Secret Brightener from
Laura Mercier that I'm eyeing as well. Can you weigh in with
opinions?? I'm going out tomorrow and want to decide which one to buy
by then! Thanks for your input...

Hi Maurey! Yes, I'm on my second Touche Eclat but decided to purchase
and try the Dior Skinflash a couple of months ago. I know that people
have strong preferences for one or the other and I've picked mine. I'm
loving the Skinflash and even bought a second tube using the Sephora FF
code even though I haven't used much of the first one yet. It has become
a daily use product for me, which was never the case for the Touche
Eclat because I needed a lot more time to apply the YSL product
correctly.
For me, there are two differences. First, I am able to blend the
Skinflash more easily with surrounding makeup, even if I forgot to use
it and have already powdered my face and used blush. I have no problem
applying the Dior product to the eye area and, in fact, I've started
using the Skinflash after applying blush intentionally. It does a great
job of both highlighting the top of my cheekbones and blending the top
edges of the applied blush. I had a harder time doing that with the
Touche Eclat, partly because of texture and partly because I got a
better color match with the Dior product. Texture–wise, I found that any
dry spots caused me problems with Touche Eclat application. I think that
the Skinflash has more "slip" to it and I have an easier time using my
pinkies or ring fingers to get a nice application. As far as color
matching goes, I always had some problems blending the Touche Eclat. One
shade is too yellow for me and one is too pink. If I didn't get the
application correct, I'd look either a little jaundiced in the eye area
or look like I applied calamine lotion to them :) I had a harder time
removing the excess if I applied too much to begin with and I hate to
tug or pull the skin in my eye area if I can avoid it. The Dior product
seems to be much more neutral, at least for my coloring. If I overapply,
which doesn't happen much because it seems to be a bit more sheer than
the YSL product, I don't have any problem removing some of it with a
clean finger.

Maurey, I used to be a Touche Eclat 'ho, but that was before Revlon
came out with their version, which is called Skinlights. I have found
no difference between the two products but, admittedly, I only use this
for brightening the inner and outer corners of the eye. I use other
products as "regular" concealer (Shu Uemura for big zits and Bare
Escentuals for ruddy patches) and undereye (used to be Dior, now
L'Oreal True Match).

Thanks for this tip –– I never knew Skinlights was Revlon's asnwer to
TE. Retirees love to find out about money savers.
I bet this stuff goes on even more smoothly with a flat, synthetic
brush than whatever kind of applicator they supply.
(Didja catch Nolan Miller's reindeer pin prancing off the QVC hostess'
shoulder t'other night? Thought of you immediately.)
