Nice 'n Easy Root Touch–Up –– Thumbs Up!

"Madolyn" <madolyn_cl...@***no***hotmail.com***spam***>
I bought this on a whim at CVS last week, where it was on sale for $5–ish.
I get my hair professionally colored w/ Goldwell permanent color (I'm a
brunette, color is for gray coverage). I used this on Sunday night to cover
up the gray roots that were coming in since my last color (about 4 weeks
ago) and was very pleased with the results. The product was simple to use,
the color blended in nicely (I used the Medium Brown shade), and best of
all, my hairdresser/colorist approved of it when I went in yesterday for a
spur–of–the–moment cut (I got about three inches cut off and now have a
chin–length bob, which I really like).
I'll probably go back in to the salon for a full color/trim in about three
or four weeks, but it's nice to know that I can buy a little bit of extra
time between professional colorings.

Is the color permanent? Your post prompted me to Google on it, and I read
you only leave it on for a few minutes. I color my hair at home using a
permanent kit, and I need to leave that one on for about 40 minutes for it
to "take". Each time I color, I'm basically just doing roots anyway since I
don't let the roots grow out very much in between coloring. I'm trying to
figure out if there's any reason to get the touch up kit, or if I should
just keep doing what I normally do. There is not much difference as far as
price is concerned, but if I don't need to leave it on as long, that would
be a plus, but only if the root color lasts.

Opinion on this product has been mixed:

The root touchup only lasts a couple of weeks. But it's a great
product for those who have their hair colored in a salon and need a
little help to make it to their next appointment. For those who color
at home, this product wouldn't make much sense.

Why not? I color at home and I've used it to touch up the roots in my
part and to cover some gray when I don't feel like re–coloring my
whole head.
I've also used it on my husband, who has just the amount of hair this
product will cover. The little comb is nice for his short hair.
