My new wardrobe – courtesy of ebay

Debbie the Dogged <seesigforrealaddr...@mouse–potato.com>
I've lost a size or two so really was in need of new clothing. I
discovered I'm a perfect Chico's size 2 now, so went nuts on ebay over
the last month. I love ebay, because I never could have afforded to buy
all this stuff retail. Most of it was new with tags or looked like it
had never been worn – all Chico's except for the Lilly skirt (some of
you have seen a few of these pics before):

So now, I have the interesting dilemna of holding steady at my current
weight until I wear all of the above out, or going ahead and dropping
that last 20 pounds. Hmmm.

Thanks! Good luck to you too. I started losing weight when I did 2
things: started exercising (moderately, for at least an hour a day,
whatever I feel like doing, from long walks with the dogs to water
aerobics or weight machines at the gym, or one of my many workout
videos), and eating in a generally healthy manner – low fat, whole grain
products (pasta, rice, bread, etc), cuttin back on sweets – now I try to
reach for fruit instead of candy. It's working well, and I don't feel
deprived at all, I've lost my craving for sugar and just feel much
better overall. I've also noticed that I'm coming down with far fewer
colds, which is a great side effect.

Congrats on the weightloss! Lots of interesting stuff in your haul there.
Wear it and enjoy it now––and "re–bay" it later if you want. (You could
just sell it as a lot.)

At a size 2, how much more do you really need to lose? Don't fall into
the peril of having only slim 00 size pickings to choose from. ;–)
Seriously, congratulations!!! And isn't ebay fun??? I like your haul
and I'm definetly seeing a theme here, and seeing your personality
coming out in all these pieces– someone who is fun, bold, daring... do
I have that right?
And I agree the Lilly Pulitzer is just *awesome.* Wish it was mine – I
could have a lot of fun with that skirt! Let me know when you decide to
rebay it in search of the elusive Theory oxblood dress pants. ;–)
I especially admire how consistent you are in your purchases, how they
all scream YOU and I don't even know you but now I feel like I do!!
Enjoy...

In case anyone other than me didn't know... apparently the size 2 by
Chico's that she referred to is not a standard size 2.
I know when I read that post, I was shocked. To be a regular size 2 and
want to lose 20 pounds, sounds unhealthy. When I was a size 2, I was
trying desperately to gain weight so I wouldn't look like a stick figure!
I realized that Chico's must have a different size system, so I checked,
and it turns out they do. Now I get it =)

What do you know... learn something new every day!
Thought tangent:
My own ebay experience gave me a very interesting realization. Did you
ever notice that, no matter what the size, when you look at an item of
clothing without a model wearing it – just lying flat and in a tiny jpg
and with nothing to give you an idea of relative size – it looks to the
eye like an "ideal" size? (Say a size 8 regular or a size 4 petite)?
Seriously... play around with ebay awhile. For example, look up dresses
or skirts. Then Flip from size 12 to 10 to 8 to 4 to 2... even down to
00. They all look pretty much the same in the pictures.
Which led me to realize it's really silly to obsess over the size on
the label! Sure, you need the size for you... but once you put on the
RIGHT size, a person wearing a size 2 looks the same (relatively
speaking) as one wearing a 12.
I think one only looks overweight or underweight when they're wearing a
size that's too small or too big. It's all about fit, not size.

Chico's size two, she said. That's a medium in regular clothes – like
a 10–12. Not saying Debbie needs to lose more weight! But just saying
Debbie isn't a skeletal figure – a good thing.

That's a Chico's size 2, which is about a rest–of–the–world size 12 (at
least in the US) :–). My goal is to get down to a 10 (I'm 5' 7" and the
way I'm built I just don't look good when I get much thinner than that).
Seriously, congratulations!!! And isn't ebay fun??? I like your haul

LOL! I'm thinking that if it's possible, and not too expensive, I may
just have the Lilly skirt taken in.
I especially admire how consistent you are in your purchases, how they
all scream YOU and I don't even know you but now I feel like I do!!
Thanks! Living in the US Pacific Northwest, which is really grey during
the winter, I like to wear bright colors to help cheer myself up!

Chico's sizes are 0–1–2–3, so a Chico's 2 is a generous medium or a
small large.

I think the eBay clothes might look different and decent in size
because so many are pinned to look nice on the mannequin. I HATE it
when they are photographed on the floor. I HATE it when so many sellers
give NO measurements at all. It does not take a rocket scientist to use
a tape measure.

Or even larger. Their sizing is very generous. Chicos calls it's size 2
a medium/10–12, but the measurements shown on their size chart are a
large or extra large in most lines. I'm usually a size 10, but Chicos
size 1 is loose on me.

Sorry, should have specified it up front. As a former size 18 (which
meant I couldn't fit even into Chico's biggest sizes, 3 or 3.5), I'm
thrilled to be down to a largish–realworld 12!
