NEXT TO LAST TUESDAY OF NOVEMBER 2005: Up about 7:00, went to work
(skipping the usual E–mail and such). Spent a couple of hours working
on stuff, then off the doctor. Figured she'd want lab work, so I
decided to skip breakfast (something I usually do on weekends) but she
decided "none this time." Dropped the new Rx off at CVS on the way
back to work. Got in the rest of the day in the afternoon, both
expected and surprise stuff. Picked up the new Rx on the way home.
Went out for tortilla soup and a combo plate. Allen, my brother that
lives at home, called and filled me in on the geriatric Farm house
(Mom's trying to fix it, Pop had his doubts about its fixability,
Allen figures it won't add to the value of the land when it eventually
gets sold!). For the busier–than–usual day:

BACK TO THE SALT MINES: Woke up about 5:00. Decided to skip all the
mucky–muck and went to work. Spent the day at work doing test plans;
of course, we do the "test plan" after the "test" although it's more a
"do we have a test for every requirement?" coverage check. Went by my
broker and put a chunk of money left over from car buying in my 2006
Roth IRA (to be invested in TBD but I'll do my homework tonight). Went
by the car dealer, my permanent plates were in. For the day at work
and post–work runaround:
Blue polo shirt
Blue denim chinos
Puma Irie sneakers (blue/white/black)

Did some stuff around my apartment and fed myself. Called the Farm
(probably should be called the Garden because that's the closest thing
the residents do to farming). Had to pick up mail after feeding myself
(three–day weekend overload). For after I got into something more
comfortable:

Blue shorts (no external logo)

but they haven't been fast lately. For the day:

PEARL HARBOR PLUS 64: To bed, up at 6:20, checked E–mail and such. Had
a busy day at work going between testing stuff from the Russians (they
were off one word on the interface on the first go–round) and
meetings. Fed myself supper. Got really sleepy, stayed asleep until
midnight. Got up and and did some Quicken chores. For the day:

reviewing stuff. Picked up Chinese food (beef and broccoli) on the way
home. Grabbed the mail (the mail order pills from last week's doctor
visits all arrived the same day) and ate in front of the TV. Did my
weekly laundry (three loads), but didn't get the computer turned on
until Saturday morning. For the day:

Lots of rain after lunch (about 4"). Did another run of smoke–testing

went over for tortilla soup and two chicken tacos. For the day:

ON THE 160th ANNIVERSARY OF TEXAS STATEHOOD: Up around 5:00, checked
E–mail and such, and had breakfast. Did some stuff around the
apartment (IMHO, there's ALWAYS something to sort around here). FedEx
Home Delivery left a yet–uninstalled box (computer parts, they require
a power–down) while I was banging around upstairs. About 11:00, took a
shower and made a doctor visit.... time for lab work, but she said
"when it's convenient in the next week or so." I said, "As far as I'm
concerned, that means before the annual deductible resets to zero for
2006." She said, "You don't have much time before 2006." (Enough for a
first–thing–in–the–AM fasting blood test.) Then, came home, dumped the
stuff out of the car, and went over to the Mexican place for tortilla
soup and carne guisada. For the day:
Dark green T–shirt
Gray heather Nike shorts, small black left–leg SWOOSH

52 degrees I should have worn the Uggs. My feet were cold all morning.
I had a manicure with Chanel Barcelona red and then went to the last WW
meeting of the year. Afterwards I met my daughter at one of our
favorite boutiques; they've lost their lease so everything was 40% off.
I bought Crabtree & Evelyn bath products, Root tapers in blue and rust
and an ornament for my son, a pig dressed in chef's attire holding a
pie. We then had lunch at Whole Foods and window shopped at the other
stores.

Another wonderfully warm winter day––sunny and 50. I hope this pattern
holds for a while. I nixed the plans to go out of town again for New
Year's since I'd much rather stay home with some good food, good wine,
and a fire for New Year's Eve and then see a bunch of movies over the
weekend, so after the office I'm off to the house in the mountains for
the long weekend.

58 degrees with another rainstorm expected this afternoon I have to go
to the bank, do two errands and the rest of the day I'll be at home
undecorating. Wednesday evening someone stole the big beautiful doormat
I had in front of the house. We have patroling security and a
homeowners' property manager so I called to report it. An hour lady the
property manager called to tell me my mat was used to break into a
nearby neighbor's Toyota Sequoia. It muffled the sound of the breaking
glass and the person climbed through the entire vehicle taking the car
registration papers, coins, bills and checks that were left on the
floor, two wrapped grifts and a few other things. The neighbor planned
to make a bank deposit the next day. I have no idea why she would leave
money in the car but when I checked with the neighbor across the street,
she said she leaves cars unlocked during the day and the glove
compartment has her gift certificates. Anyway, now my door mat is being
held as evidence but the neighbor promises to get it back for me. We
suspect people who recently roofed a house two across the street from
them and two doors from me as the prime suspects. Never keep anything
valuable in your vehicles.

the hand!!!). Then, came home, did a few things. Going over to the
