What retail history did *you* make recently?

Nadya <na...@spam.net>
I'm woefully late posting, but had to share this with understanding af'ers.
Our local mall recently expanded, adding, among other things, the
state's first Sephora. A friend and I went to the charity gala opening
event – which was great – food, drinks, live music etc.
BUT – the important thing is that she and I were the FIRST customers to
cross the Sephora threshold. There wasn't a line or anything but we
got there a few minutes before the official gala started – we asked if
we could come in and the 18 sales associates said yes. Then when we
crossed the threshold they burst into applause!
They asked if we'd ever been to a Sephora before and we started rattling
off names – which assured them we were going to be great customers.
It was fun to walk around and see the pristine store with untouched
testers. I bought the Fresh Memoirs of a Geisha gift set for me (yes,
Stevie, this rocks) and an UD palette for a friend.
The other stores weren't quite as exciting, though Janeville was new to
me. They're the women's branch of Gymboree and have vaguely romantic
sweet but stylish clothing. I'll have to go back and try things on.
Yours, in retail history, Nadya

What a fun experience. Our city's first Sephora is opening next
Saturday but I'll wait till a weekday to go there. I've bought plenty on
line. Retail must be doing well as two of our centers are getting
several new stores and the Tulare outlets are expanding.

Yes, we have two new malls near here, and now this expansion. What's
also strange is the the vast majority of new stores seem to be women's
clothing or makeup related. My husband is running out of things to do
at the mall, now that the fun stores like the Nature Company or Warner
Brothers etc. stores are gone. The new malls don't have anything even
close, like a Brookstone.
Thanks goodness for the Apple store at least!

I Love Janeville. I have 3 pieces from there and have been very happy.

Thanks – that's good to know! I still have to get back there and
actually shop!
