Nike

Lutach...@aol.com
Since I am always sneaking some of my "sports" wardrobe into my "work"
wardrobe, especially in winter when I want to wear a down vest and
fleece, and when I see that RL and Jones NY started adding stuff like
this to their sports wear, I was interested in the last Nike catalog I
got. It has some more cross over to street/work wear pieces– jackets,
pants, sweaters, coats that are not just for athletics.
Since I was home sick this week and saw some of the Today Show, I got
to see some Nike outfits for the winter olympics and it was mentioned
that "This is the first time Nike has designed a cashmere sweater."
Interesting.

They've learned that people are crossing over already, so they're
aiming more at the crossover market.
Also, they're coming out with "active life" stuff that I'd describe as
"less serious than the traditional Nike 'Just Do It' hard–core
attitude."
Bill Perez (their new CEO) says basically the same thing in the latest
paper drop to come my way (2005 Annual Report). Even so, the pictures
they put in the report are of athletes engaged in some sort of sport
using a Nike–owned brand.

Nike's a clothing and footwear designer and marketer. I'd suspect the
goal in Beaverton is to have something Nike–branded (not the same as
SWOOSH–branded, they already have a number of other brands in their
portfolio – Bauer, Converse, Hurley, Starter) on people 24x7x365.

Honestly, I could care less about the swoosh and actually try to avoid large
logos. I just really love their workout clothes. They are a bit pricey
though, IMO. I always wait for a sale.

Yes, but they're a premium brand.
Just ask Bill Perez (the CEO of Nike). <grin/duck>
