I picked up my glasses today

"ahmward" <nospam.ahmw...@yahoo.com>
I finally picked up my new glasses, and I absolutely adore them. they
are rimless with gold frames that are smoky gray blue in the back. and
Swarovski blue crystals. There is just one crystal in the front and
nine others in the gold part of the frames. The web site is down but
they look like these http://tinyurl.com/cb99s
with clear lenses. They were expensive. I was told I could put them on
my homeowners' insurance and I also had to register them. I have
insurance for glasses, but certainly not enough :( Anyway since I wear
them every day I might as well love them and now everyone can really see
my eye makeup.

Congratulations, Audrey. Are they your first rimless glasses? Will your
insurance cover breakage?
I love rimless frames. My third pair is on order now. My first pair were
also hingeless; they were really comfortable but they didn't keep their
shape. My second pair has hinges but they also torque out of alignment
because I don't always use two hands when I remove them. The pair that's on
order now is supposed to be indestructible––though when the optician was
demonstrating how flexible they are, the sample frames snapped in two.
Enjoy your glasses!

The Swarovski registration form and materials say that they are
guaranteed against any manufacturing and material defect for a period of
2 years from the date of purchase. That doesn't cover damage from
breakage, abuse, etc. I didn't realize it at the time of purchase but
the frames are 23.5 carat gold–plated. I would have to call to see what
the vision insurance covers. It's one of those spotty plans, covers
some things and not others. Let's hope mine don't break.

IMHO, none of them cover anything other than super–cheap frames that
look like they came from the dollar store.

they're beautiful! i have a pair of rimless
http://www.italee.com/kawa/main.htm kawasaki frames ... the side
pieces are an icy blue metal. these are my third pair; the first ones
were damaged shortly after i got them; i was watering the garden and
dropped them, then stepped on them, breaking one of the lenses. they
cost a bit more than $500 (progressive lenses). i was freaked! but,
i paid for them with an american express card, and american express
would replace (i called on sunday). when i called my optician on
monday, i discovered they'd replace the lens free of charge ... their
policy ... i'm not sure for how long. so, you might want to check to
see what's covered at the place you purchased your glasses. as for
the reason i've replaced pair #2, a german shepherd ate them. i know
:–)! i'm more careful now. and it wasn't my dog. my dog would never
do that!
Thanks for the advice. I've never lost or broken a pair of glasses so I
haven't thought about replacements.

I really like those. They look pretty, and fun!
My s.o. recently spent more than he planned on new eyeglasses. He's really
happy now. If you wear them all the time, you have to like (or even love)
them. After all, I told him, you wouldn't buy ugly awful plastic surgery
just because it was less expensive :)
