I suspect this "design" came after many – MANY! – martinis.

Whoa! Those are really something.
Generally, when people ask, "What were you thinking?" It is a good sign
that you were not.
There is one pair of those furry boots that have just a little bit of
fur, and they are cute, but I don't dare for fear of "fashion–victim"
status!

Martinis? If you go to Zappos.com or one of the other shoe sites and search
by price "highest to lowest", you will see what gets designed by people who
are obviously tripping! (Don't neglect the men's collections!) I really do
wonder if they sell a single pair of some of those things.
But I confess that I have been wearing a pair of pale pink Simple Ugg–offs.
They are so damned comfy! I feel like I'm walking around in public wearing
bunny slippers. (I think I get the same rush I used to get when I was very
young and my mom let me wear ballet slippers in public.)

I think the oddest "design" I ever saw was heavy men's style
work boots – steel toes, heavy soles, thick leather uppers . . .
with stiletto heels!
Even worse, they came in pastel colours.

OK, here's your competition: in TJ Maxx this week, I saw a bizarre pair
of HIGH–HEELED mules in red suede with furry criss–cross lace–up vamps.
My immediate thought: these are for Santa's secret nasty hot mistress!
Then I was shocked to see the brand name: COACH. They seemed quite
unCOACHlike to me. Apparently classic, timeless style is no longer the
Coach focus. Too bad.

I have been seriously thinking about ordering a pair of the Ugg short
boots in an obnoxious, discontinued color (like "orchid" or
"cornflower"). These are some of the fugliest things I've ever seen, and
so over, and so ridiculous when otherwise sensible girls wear them with
miniskirts (?!?!?), but they are sooooo warm and soft.

Something about the price makes them uglier. :)
I'm wondering about exactly what one would wear with these shoes:

I understand the "fugly" factor but they are fugly in a cute way––not fugly
like Timberlands with spike heels. And if you do something like orchid Uggs
with dark purple tights, along with that short skirt... You'll have "Happy

Time for a new reality tv show: America's Ugliest Shoes! We can all
nominate a style, and every week the judges will eliminate a pair because
they found some redeeming quality that the rest of us had overlooked.
The furry boots with high heels are sort of Clan of the Cave Bear
Hooker–ish.

not that I like those, but I think that is a fairly standard look for
apres ski boots– think Aspen. Possibly in powder snow, it flakes right
off and the fur/hair insulates well. In the east with the wet snow,
however, I think they would get icy clots all over them and weigh 145
lbs in no time...also not sure if there were Indian moccasins that
looked like these and there is some historic precedent for the style?

"Fancy dance" boots are sometimes embellished, more in modern times
than in the 1800s, though.
But they are very ~special~ wear and would only be worn at a sing or
a pow wow.
