What I Bought Today

"ahmward" <nospam.ahmw...@yahoo.com>
I had a great thrift store find of 18 almost if not new Nancy Drew
books, which I'll send to my husband's cousins for their children. In
return I donated our artificial Christmas tree that I've replaced with a
new one that has lights.
I bought my husband a blue tie from the place where he buys his suits.
I picked up two printer cartridges at Comp USA and then made my first
visit to Kohls where I bought my husband two flannel shirts at 50% off.
Shopping today at Comp USA and Kohls was so quick and easy with few
shoppers this afternoon. Next week it will be insane.

bad bad bad... they have a Laduree in Harrods now so after yoga I
braved the masses and went to Harrods! I got a box of 30 assorted
macaroons (heavenly!) and then picked up a gift for my mother–in–law
for her birthday. I got her two TINY Jo Malone bath oils for the
princely sum of =A344.. but she has been a wonder, looking after me for
weeks at a time while Brit husband was traveling. I also picked up an
assortment of English teas (earl grey, english breakfast and ceylon)
plus lovely sandwiches and quiches in the Food Halls for my bookgroup.
The three of them have also been wonderful in their own quirky ways so
I wanted to say thanks for all their love and support. It was a
madhouse but I survived and made it back in time for 4 PM tea and our
monthly book discussion!

What a nice shopping excursion! Glad you are on the road to good
health.

I've done a bit of shopping over the last week, both online and B&M:
––charcoal tiered velvet peasant skirt––way too full, going back
––another workhorse skirt for the office (black, long, straight, 2
buttons at waist, stretch gabardine–like material)
––white l/s cotton knit shirt, notched v–neck with gold thread
embroidery and beading all around neckline
––chartreuse 3/4 sleeve keyhole neck sweater
––black silk knit cardigan, one button closure
––peach v–neck sweater with embellished neckline (stones, beads,
embroidery) and beaded hook and eye closure at the neck
––hot pink velour hoodie (really thin velour so very supple and a great
color)
––square brown velvet shoulder bag, front is devore velvet in a kind of
tie–dyed pattern on both the velvet and the fabric, with gold beads and
sequins following the devore'd pattern
––a bunch of tee–shirts for layering: 3/4 sleeve cream v–neck,
lettuce–edged coral v–neck, U–neck pale pink
and my favorite thing: a chiffon peasant blouse; white background with
a floral pattern in emerald green and sapphire blue, beaded at the
(v–neck) placket and sleeves in emerald green beads and sequins. This
looked great with jeans and I think this will be what I wear for
Thanksgiving dinner.

That's a huge shopping haul. What web sites did you use? I assume I
wouldn't find the B&M stores in my neck of the woods.
My other question is what is devore velvet?
I ordered a white cashmere Charter Club turtleneck for me. It's on sale
plus I can get the personal shopper's friends and family discount. I
have a heavy fisherman's white sweater and a pullover that is way too
big so I hope this one will fill a hole in my wardrobe.

Today was a great shopping day!
At BR – I bought this cute little black brocade sheath dress with a
boat neck.

I also bought this silk/lace camisole in red/black to wear under a
cardigan.
http://tinyurl.com/bpkqj
At C.O. Bigelow, I bought a bottle of Hot Cocoa bodywash from Jaqua
Girls.
At Ann Taylor.com, I ordered this jacket as a replacement for my
current jacket, which is seven years old and has seen better days:

coupon code for this.)
At JCrew – I bought this sweater in Heather Breeze:

I lunched and shopped with one of my fave altfashion gals, Jeanne. We
were treated to lunch at Houston's by my hubby and then we parted ways
as we travelled over to Macy's. Bought several items in the men's
dept. for Christmas gifts and then we stopped at the Benefit counter.
Tried a yellow swivel type concealor for facial redness so bought that.
The Aromatique line of potpourri and candles has replaced the area
where Paula Dorf was, (right next to the Benefit counter) and I
purchased a candle as a gift.
Up the escalator to the clothing dept., no purchases there, so into the
mall to the Sephora store. Jeanne found something, and this must be
the first time I have left Sephora with no new items. A stop into
Casual Corner next as everything is marked down since they are closing
that store. Found a waist length black leather jacket at 50% off and a
cotton long sleeve ribbed neck pullover in a salmon pink color also
half off.
Homeward bound then until we meet up again sometime in December!

I ordered the t–shirts and the hoodie a while back on clearance from
the Hanes website (they only recently arrived). The rest I picked up
either at local department stores (local to where I am most weekends,
and some of those don't even have branches here in DC), or at a nearby
outlet mall, or at Walmart.
I've been trying to find links to some of the stuff, but no luck.

Velvet that's been burned away to the fabric beneath to create a
pattern. http://www.just4ewe.org/Gallery/velvet/velvet.html

Hanes shipping seems to be very slow, but the prices are good. I know
the Charter Club sweater will work because I have at least four of them
in different colors and styles. It's inexpensive cashmere but none of
them look worn.
